Lasers vs chemical peels
LASERS vs CHEMICAL PEELS 👀
People always ask me which one is “better”… but honestly, they work VERY differently.
Lasers use heat + light energy to create controlled injury in the skin. Chemical peels use acids to exfoliate damaged layers of skin in a more progressive way.
Neither is automatically “better.” It depends on:
• skin tone
• skin condition
• downtime tolerance
• sensitivity
• goals
• history of pigmentation
Here’s the breakdown ⬇️
✨ CHEMICAL PEELS
PROS:
• Great for pigment + melasma
• Helps acne + acne scarring
• Improves texture and glow
• Can be layered progressively
• Usually lower cost than lasers
• Amazing for maintenance treatments
• Less heat involved which can be safer for many darker skin tones
• Helps overall skin quality, not just one concern
CONS:
• Peeling phase 😅
• Requires patience
• Multiple sessions may be needed
• You HAVE to follow aftercare
• Not instant gratification
✨ LASERS
PROS:
• Can tighten skin dramatically
• Good for resurfacing
• Certain lasers target redness or broken capillaries really well
• Some treatments produce fast visible changes
• Can stimulate collagen deeply
CONS:
• Heat can trigger pigmentation in some skin types
• More expensive
• Higher risk if done aggressively
• Downtime can be intense
• Not every laser is safe for every skin tone
• One overly aggressive treatment can sometimes create more inflammation than necessary
The biggest misconception?
People think stronger = better.
In reality… controlled, progressive treatments often outperform aggressive “one shot” treatments long term.
This is why I personally love layered peel protocols. You stay more in control of the process while gradually improving the skin over time.
Home Peels are a multi layered application
