So as we all know this economy is awful. Inflation is at an all time high.

As a current hairstylist and former server, I always tip; however, I have tipping fatigue. I went to a local dress shop and had the best stylist to help pick out my daughter’s prom dress. The experience was amazing.

The only thing I didn’t love is for using a card I was charged 3.5%; however, I am used to this. Once I swiped my card I was asked if I wanted to leave a tip for our stylist. She did help us out for one hour, and she was amazing. The lowest percentage they offered to tip was 17% or custom. I custom input $50 which was about 10%. I felt that I had to tip, because I didn’t want the stylist to think I didn’t appreciate her.

Having said all of that. WTH… I thought they worked off of commission. I hope they still do and the tip is cherry on top. It was an added expense I didn’t plan for to be honest

So having said all of that…I would like your input!

I want to make my clients life easier not harder. I work for myself and have expenses associated to my business, and have always accepted tips.

I am wanting to do an increase on my prices 10% or less, and no longer accept tips.

My tip would be a post about your hair, rebooking, pre-booking, and telling friends.

I would accept ZERO tips. Again, I would increase my current price structure by 10% or less and ask/accept no tips.

I also do not, will not and have not ever charged for card fees. I am able to write those off on my taxes. (Pretty sure all businesses do 👀👀👀)

As a consumer/client how do you feel about this?

My lovely client came in with natural light brown hair and was ready for a major change. I went through and did a combo or a teasy foil and open air balayage to give a dimensional tipped out blonde look with natural rootage.

By doing natural rootage, this gives my client months between appointments. My non grey clients love that they can go up to 3 months between appointments!

I love my teen and tween clients. They give me so much life.

Big shout out to for getting this beauty warm blonde with zero damage!
