7 Hair Extension Care Mistakes to Avoid in Florida As the top salon for hair extensions. We made a guide to help you get the most wear from your hair.
1. Going to bed with wet extensions
Wet hair can tangle and mat as you move in your sleep, especially around extension attachment points. Dry your hair thoroughly before bed, paying attention to the areas between weft rows. 2. Diving into the pool or ocean without preparing your hair
Before swimming, wet your extensions with clean water and apply Kerastase Blond Guard through the lengths and ends, following your stylist’s product advice. After your swim, rinse your hair and gently detangle it. Florida pool days should be fun; a little preparation makes the aftercare easier.
Quick answer: Can you swim with hair extensions? Kinda. but wet and protect the hair first, then rinse and care for it afterward. Try a swim cap or to not get your hair wet.
3. Letting sunscreen transfer onto your extensions
Some chemical sunscreen ingredients can discolor extension hair, with lighter shades particularly vulnerable. Choose a mineral sunscreen when practical, keep sunscreen-coated hands away from your hair, and wash your hands after applying it. Pulling your hair back while you apply sunscreen helps protect the lengths, too.
If your blonde extensions shift toward a peach or pink tone, contact your Gramercy stylist before trying a color fix at home. We have treatments to help remove as much as possible.
Hair may look smooth on top while tangles develop underneath or between rows. Brush regularly with a gentle, extension-friendly brush, starting at the ends and working upward. If you wear wefts, separate and brush each row carefully. Hold the hair for support and avoid tugging at the attachment points.
