Just like a restaurant, that can’t please every single patron that eats there and neither will you.
And that’s ok.
For those of you who let bad Yelp reviews or Fakebook (not a typo) reviews dictate how you run your business because you’re trying to appease the masses instead of focusing on targeting your niche for a clientele.

Not everyone will like you.
Don’t run your entire business to keep a few people from writing something awful.

Some will love you so much they’ll do your advertising for you.

Try not focus on being perfect for everyone but trying to attract the perfect client for you.

Pay attention to red flags 🚩 and politely refer them elsewhere. It’s ok to say no.
When a potential client needs a service I don’t want to build into my book I politely say Thank you so much for wanting me to do your hair. It’s such a great compliment. This particular service is not my specialty and I know I’d disappoint you by doing it. I absolutely want you to be thrilled with your hair. Please reach out to this particular stylist (name) she specializes in this and you’ll be thrilled with what she does for you.
Or.. Currently, my schedule is extremely full and can not accommodate this service because of the length of time or the high maintenance aspect of it. (Whichever applies to her) and then refer her elsewhere if you’re able too.

Clients don’t always understand what’s involved. I’ve often gotten messages looking for appts for services I just don’t do but they like my work and assume we just do it all. It’s up to you to put the brakes on any areas that don’t suit you artistically, financially or emotionally.
Don’t read Yelp reviews. The people that take the time to try to ruin your business publicly are generally mentally unstable.
There’s tons of restaurants. If I don’t like my experience I don’t go back.

I don’t publicly try to destroy them.

I'll never understand why people expend that much energy on strangers who could have just had an awful day the day you went. Focus your energy on the clients you want in your chair not the clients that make you dread showing up.
