Been working really hard to get super strong before snowboard season. As I get older I know I can’t get away with the same eating habits and workouts that I used to. I’m trying to change bad habits as well as focus on strength instead of skinny. I only get one vessel to live this life and I need to do everything I can to make sure it keeps running for many more years to come. At 37 I wish I would have started earlier with battling my addiction to sugar but I can’t live in the past and all I can do is take steps forward each day to give my body the best chance to keep up with all the activities to come!

During the winter I was focused on getting strong legs to help me with snowboarding. Since the season ended I have been concentrating on getting strong. I feel like I am the strongest I have ever been. I wanted to be strong because I want to be able to carry anyone I love if they need it. I want to be able to not break myself when I try to do new things because my daughter has inspired me. I want to be strong enough to protect myself and my daughter just in case. Because of our unrealistic society standards I have always been afraid to throw big weight, afraid to have big thighs, been afraid of being bigger than 100lbs. Now they I have a daughter it’s important that I don’t let those unrealistic standards continue. I need to make sure she knows that being strong is just as appealing. They not being the perfect size is okay and that beauty is truly how you treat others as well as talk to yourself.

The most important relationship you have is the one with yourself. Whether or not you fit into “society’s” beauty standards is irrelevant, if you don’t like what you see when you look into the mirror you need to fix it. That might not always be losing weight. It might be as simple as saying nice things about yourself or being more positive in your daily life. You only get one shell to live this life in and it deserves all the love and praise that you may give to others or that you have always wanted. Like I said, it’s not about looking like anyone else or fitting into some lame standards that were set by “heroine sheek” models. It’s about loving you and being stoked on the life you are living. No matter what your age you can change your health status, your pants size, your job or your outlook on life. Live unapologeticly you and have as much fun as possible!
