I've made so many good friends over the years doing hair. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

These special people lived across the street from a salon where I worked and I am so glad for the day they walked over and into my life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

They spend part of their time out of state, and that's where they were when the pandemic made us all stay inside. So I hadn't had the pleasure of seeing them in OVER a YEAR. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Welp, now that the three of us are fully vaxxed, we finally got to get together for some haircuts and breakfast. It made me sooooo happy, I had to snap this pic of our reunion. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We aren't supposed to like bold, chunky highlights/lowlights anymore. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This has been a thing for almost as long as I've been a hairdresser. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

In all of my online hairdressing groups, there are multiple posts a month decrying the "dreaded stripey highlight request" or the "Kelly Clarkson Hair, circa 2002". ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And I don't get the hate. I get the momentary panic when someone asks for something that we haven't been doing for 15+ years, but like, we've got rainbow hair and shag-mullets walking out of the salon - why are chunky highlights/lowlights where we draw the line? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Anyhoo, I had chunky blonde highlights years ago and I LOVED them. Block color is a fun technique and it ALWAYS catches attention. I say they're back, they're allowed, and we can stop smack-talking Kelly Clarkson's 2002 hair. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

When I first started going to the salon regularly in my 20’s, my hairdresser recommended a few products for my hair that I went on to use religiously for YEARS. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

It wasn’t until I was introduced to Davines a few years ago, that I finally found something I liked as much and worked EVEN BETTER - and now it’s what *I* recommend to *MY* guests! 😃⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

My current fave for hairspray is the Invisible No-Gas Spray from Davines’ More Inside line. It’s especially awesome for iron work (curling, flat-iron) because it has a heat protectant built in for those touch-ups on next-day-hair. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
