Harvesting local honey and creating premium all natural skin care products

Wondering where Goodfriend Honey Co.’s beekeeper has been the last week or two? Well…I looked for bees in London, saw Big Ben, met a beekeeper in Belfast, Northern Ireland, had an Irish coffee and a Guinness in Killybegs, Ireland, saw the windswept moors of Scotland’s Shetland Islands, and took a RIB boat ride through a fjord in Norway. And there’s another week of adventures to go!

Taking you along for a bee removal today. It was a big hive with lots of bees, so we didn’t find the queen, but since all the bees started marching into the box, I’m hopeful that she’s in there. Even if she isn’t, there were lots of brand new eggs, which the workers can use to make themselves a new queen if necessary. An alligator was watching from the shore, which I’m really glad I didn’t see until I was almost done, or I would have been very nervous!

A beautiful morning for hive inspections, so come along with me and learn some of what I am looking for when I inspect my hives.

We have missed you all so much the past few weeks. Unfortunately, we had to make the difficult decision to stop doing the because the temperatures got so hot that products were melting. Because our products are all natural and contain no preservatives, they don’t do well in extreme heat! But, we’ll see you soon, and you can always order on the website, or give me a call and come pick up your faves!

Happy World Bee Day! Let’s all do our part by supporting all pollinators any way you can!!!

Happy World Bee Day! 🐝

Recognized world-wide by the United Nations, the theme of this year is “Bee Together for the People and Planet: A partnership that sustains us all.”

This theme highlights how humans and bees have been working together to nourish and sustain people and the environment over thousands of years.

You can support pollinators today, and every day, by planting a pollinator garden, donating to research institutions, educating yourself (and your children, if applicable!) on the importance of pollinators, supporting local agricultural practices, and reducing use of pesticides.
