I've been obsessed with meditation and tracking heart rate variability lately. It's absolutely fascinating how breathing, napping, meditation, food choices, stress, sleep quality, and literally, everything we do on a daily basis can affect our nervous systems within seconds. It doesn't take a whole lot to trigger the fight or flight response and for good reason. You want to be able to escape danger when needed.
Of course, in reality, most of us tend to live in fight or flight most of the day and it becomes our norm and this then leads to disease if left unchecked.
Beyond just telling you how your body is recovering from a stressful event, an intense workout, or inadequate sleep, certain lifestyle changes like meditation can sometimes have a profound effect on HRV...effects I consider to be supernatural. At this point, it's difficult to interpret what it means but it doesn't change the fact that it's SUPER COOL to see!

Normal ranges max out at 120 or 200 at the most. The average range is 30s-60s for most people.

What should we do about these new variants?
1. Keep wearing masks, avoiding gatherings and continue social distancing to protect yourself and everyone else.
2. Get vaccinated if there are no contraindications.
3. Remain alert, calm and informed.
4. Practice self care in order to make your body more disease resistant.
Panicking does not make you any safer. Chronic stress can impair your immune response.
