“Why do you have a salon name if you’re a solo stylist?”
Because you’re not booking a person, you’re investing in an experience.
Alter’d Mane isn’t just my business name. It’s the standard. The atmosphere. The level of service. The attention to detail. The feeling you get when you walk in and the confidence you leave with.
Anyone can offer a hair appointment.
I built a brand.
One that feels elevated without being pretentious, luxurious without being stuffy, and personalized without feeling transactional.
So yes, it’s just me behind the chair.
I’m a solo stylist by choice.
But Alter’d Mane was built like a brand.

I’m gonna be real for a second 🤎
I’ve never been good at balance.
I hyperfocus. I go all in. I make something really f*cking good…
and then I walk away from it like it’ll just maintain itself.
That’s exactly what I did with the gym.
I saw results. I felt strong. I hit that “damn, I did it” moment…
and then slowly stopped showing up the way I was before.
And now? I feel it.
Physically exhausted but mentally wired.
Craving sugar like I need a hit of energy just to function.
Brain fog on top of a brain that already runs in 47 tabs at all times.
I see it. I recognize it.
And I’m not okay staying here.
So instead of flipping a switch and trying to be “perfect” again…
I’m doing it differently this time.
Small changes. Every week.
Building something I can actually sustain.
Because apparently the real flex isn’t going all in…
it’s staying consistent when it’s not exciting anymore.
We’re working on it.

So often I get DMs like: “How much for XX inch extensions?”
Honestly… if we haven’t met in person yet, I have no freaking clue 🙈
There’s a lot that goes into pricing extensions, and it’s different for every head. Here’s what I consider:
* Your natural hair & current haircut ✂️
* Your overall extension goals ✨
* Hair density (thick hair = more hair to blend, thin hair = more rows to distribute weight)
Because of all that, the only way I can give an accurate quote is through a consultation, where I can see, feel, and understand exactly what you want.
*Sometimes* I can give a “standard quote” for a typical one or two-row install but that can always change once I see it in person.
This is why I love consultations… they make sure your hair looks exactly how you dreamed.

Brunettes… we need to have a talk. 🤎
If you’ve ever said any of these things, this post is for you:
“I don’t want ANY warmth.”
“My hair always turns red.”
“Purple shampoo isn’t working.”
“My highlights are orange.”
“My ash brown fades in two weeks.”
Here’s the truth most of the industry or your stylist isn’t telling you 👇🏼
1. “My brown hair always turns red.”
You’re not special. ALL brunette hair has red/orange underlying pigment. When color fades or lifts, those pigments show. It’s not your stylist sabotaging you… it’s hair chemistry.
Solution: Regular glosses + the right toning products keep the warmth balanced.
2. “Purple shampoo doesn’t work on my brown hair.”
Purple cancels yellow, not orange/red.
Solution: Brunettes usually need blue-based products, not purple, to neutralize unwanted warmth. But be careful! Too much can/will strip or dry out your hair!
3. “My highlights always look orange.”
Dark hair lifts through red → orange → yellow before becoming blonde.
Solution: Patience, proper lightening, and in most cases multiple sessions are key.
4. “My stylist made my hair too warm.”
Most dimensional brunettes are formulated neutral or cool… but cooler tones fade first over time, revealing underlying warmth.
Solution: Gloss refreshes between appointments keep that rich tone intact.
5. “Ash brown never lasts.”
Ash tones sit on top of naturally warm pigment. Once they fade, the warmth underneath shows.
Solution: Realistic tone expectations + maintenance toning help keep the ash balanced.
Remember: Warmth isn’t a mistake… it’s the heart of every brunette. That richness, depth, and subtle glow is what makes brunette hair so desirable, luxurious, and iconic. You simply cannot have a true brunette without warm tones.
XOXO, your friendly neighborhood brunette specialist 🤎
