Last but Certainly Not Least—Family 🧡

I want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the family I finally had the opportunity to meet in Chicago. My aunt and I had only connected through social media, but she welcomed me into her home with open arms and introduced me to her beautiful family.

We hugged, laughed, danced, ate and enjoyed one another as though no time had ever separated us. What began as our first time meeting in person quickly felt familiar, comfortable and full of love.

This family connection became one of the most meaningful surprises of the entire weekend. Auntie, thank you for opening your home and your heart to me—and for welcoming the ladies of Maison Élevée so warmly. I will forever be grateful.

Chicago gave me history, culture, sisterhood and family. It was truly one of the best weekends ever! 🧡

Day Two — History, Culture & Unexpected Blessings 🧡

Our morning began in the kitchen, preparing a wonderful breakfast together with the groceries we purchased the night before. There was something so special about sharing food, conversation and laughter before heading out to explore the city.

At the Obama Presidential Center, we took our time experiencing it all—smelling the plants and flowers, walking the trails, meeting new people, and exploring the Forum and Library. Every part of the campus gave us another opportunity to learn, reflect and appreciate the history being preserved there.

Then came the unexpected blessing: we scored tickets to go inside the museum! 🙌🏾 What began as a beautiful day of exploring became an unforgettable cultural experience. We walked, learned, laughed and created memories that will forever be part of Maison Élevée’s very first Legacy Weekend.

Good food. Great women. Black history. Beautiful memories. This is what collecting moments and building legacy looks like. 🧡

Our First Evening 🧡

Before leaving home, I felt exhausted, anxious and vulnerable. Hosting the first Maison Élevée travel experience meant being responsible for more than myself, so I prayed through the fear and trusted God with every detail. The moment we arrived at the Airbnb, something shifted—the nerves settled, the excitement returned and I realized: we made it! 🙌🏾

I was so grateful to welcome both Shardae and Kisha on this inaugural journey. Shardae earned the first room selection because she was the first to commit and complete her payment, and then everyone settled comfortably into their spaces. Afterward, we headed out for groceries, shared plenty of laughs and went directly to our welcome dinner at Bronzeville Winery—no changing necessary!

The atmosphere, food and company created the perfect beginning. Watching everything I planned finally come to life replaced my anxiety with joy, connection and confirmation. Thank you, Shardae and Kisha, for trusting me and sharing this milestone with Maison Élevée. Our first travel experience had officially begun—and it was already more beautiful than I imagined.
