The phases of going lighter to darker 🤎

Tara had been missing her darker roots, so today was phase one of taking her back dark.

Our end goal is deep rooted espresso brown reverse balayage into a gorgeous light toffee brown — rich, dimensional, and seamless. But when hair has a long history of blonde, plus added porosity, sometimes the healthiest and most beautiful route is to transition in phases rather than rushing the process.

Today’s appointment was all about filling the hair first — replacing the missing warm undertones that blonding removes over time. This step is essential because it allows darker color to grab properly, hold beautifully, and create richness without looking flat, hollow, or muddy.

We added 3 rows of genius weft extensions by the one & only to give Tara this super full look.

The result: soft depth, warmth, and a gorgeous foundation for what’s next ✨

Next appointment we’ll take her into that final espresso brunette just in time for graduation 🎓🤎

Since she’s 100% grey we color her base in the back with 7NW , during the summer months 7NW /8NW & 8NW/9NW in the front. This helps her blonde grow out soft in between touch ups so we are not blonding every 5 at every appointment while maintaining the depth in her hair. Blonding, we baby light her 2-3 x a year by baby lighting keeping a raw lift for that perfect baby blonde tone that stays bright all year long .✨

If there is one thing about Marissa, it’s that she 👏🏽 pulls 👏🏽 of 👏🏽 a bob! The French bob is trending so hard right now & she wears it perfectly. So tempting for me to not do that same thing! 💁🏼‍♀️
