I love when a client is game to have a little fun with the process. We took off about 9–10 inches and she even threw the giant pile of hair at me for the camera — because why not? 😂
For this bob, I used a combination of shears and texture razor cutting to create movement and remove weight. When someone has a lot of hair, the goal is to avoid that dreaded “Christmas tree” shape that can happen with blunt bobs.
I also cut and refined the shape dry, which is important when a client plans to wear their natural texture most of the time. Cutting dry lets me see exactly how the hair is going to live day-to-day so I can balance the weight and make sure the shape moves the way it should.
I don’t post textured bobs very often, but honestly… I should. I love how this one turned out.
And shoutout to for being such a good sport while filming — it makes creating these videos way more fun. ✂️

Sometimes I hesitate when I say the words…
“I own a salon.”
Not because I’m not proud of it —
but because of everything people might assume comes with it.
That I have everything figured out.
That I’m the best stylist in the building.
That I’m wealthy.
That I’m confident all the time.
And honestly… I immediately want to explain myself like —
no, I’m still learning 😂
no, I’m not perfect at everything
no, I’m definitely still figuring things out every day!
I’m 40. I’m growing a business. I’m leading a team.
I try to communicate well, stay grounded, and be someone people can rely on… but I still get in my head sometimes.
Owning a salon doesn’t instantly make you the best at everything —but it does give me more responsibility to grow.
