The little faces you support when you support us. From dance lessons, guitar and drum lessons to the ridiculous amount of Chuck E. Cheese pizza I have to supply to my picky eater.

We were reminded yesterday as we often are, that when kids come in to get their hair done they have all the confidence. They stare at the mirror, they take selfies, they tell us how pretty they are. We love to see that confidence, but somewhere into adulthood we stop doing that. We talk about how we look with the cape on, we stop asking for glitter and we start criticizing. 🙋🏼‍♀️me included.

So I’m challenging us all this month to say our affirmations, to allow ourselves to get excited about ourselves, and to pretend we are as confident as those little ones. Let’s not forget they are watching us!

1. I can just wash my hair and go.

Most curls need the right styling routine, multiple products, and a lot of trial and error. Something that Randilyn and I are happy to help with as we both have undergone our own curl journey.

2. I have to wash my hair every day to wear my hair curly.

I used to feel this way but with the right knowledge you are seeing my curls on day 2 and 3 in the salon!

3. It’s not professional, or I don’t feel put together

I fought this negative curl talk for a long time. When you hear tons of compliments, and start getting more comfortable it all drifts away.

Some of my favorites moments in the salon happen when I brew a cup of coffee for you, and we have girl talk with a full studio. Yesterday and many others are a great reminder of how the salon environment thrives when there is time for connection, not just for me and my clients, but client to client too.
