Proud to carry Skin Script RX's wonderful scrub products which does not contain plastic microbeads!
Ask Our Educator! Q: I recently heard that microbeads found in scrubs are going to be banned. Does that mean that all scrubs will have to go?
A: Great question! Microbeads are really tiny plastic particles usually smaller than two millimeters. The composition of microbeads can vary and often include polyethylene (PE) or polypropylene (PP), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polymethlyl methacrylate (PMMA) or nylon. Bottom line, it’s all plastic!
Microbeads are very small bits of plastic that manufacturers use to supply scrubbing power to body washes, exfoliators, toothpastes, and other cleansing products. They look like tiny spheres.
Wildlife and conservation scientists agree that microbeads are highly damaging to the natural environment and the wildlife. Scientists have shown that microbeads are harming the environment. After you’ve scrubbed your face or brushed your teeth, the tiny plastic spheres go down the drain. Wastewater treatment plants weren’t designed to filter out such small plastic bits, so the beads end up in rivers, lakes, and oceans. So with that in mind President Obama recently signed a bipartisan bill that prohibits selling and distributing products containing microbeads. The bill is intended to protect the nation's waterways. Here’s the bigger question that your clients will want to know: What does Skin Script use in our scrub? We use Jojoba beads, and blue corn meal...all very safe, natural, gentle, renewable and bio-degradable! Scrub on!

Ask Our Educator! Q: What is the difference between OTC (over the counter products) sold at drugstores or department stores compared to professional products like yours? Do professional products really work better?
A: As aestheticians we’re often asked this question. The reality is there are thousands of OTC products that are less expensive and have good ingredients but are less effective in giving you results. Professional products are designed to- and often tested clinically to- prove their effectiveness. Professional products have higher quality ingredients and will continue to improve your skin over time. In my opinion, it all comes back to, "You get what you pay for."
Here are some reasons why professional products are more effective and will deliver better results than drugstore or department store products. Help your clients understand this by comparing and contrasting their OTC product with your professional product.
Professional Products:
-Are made in small batches with fresh and active ingredients that are made to deliver results.
- Have higher quantities and percentages of active ingredients to ensure the product does what it says it’s going to do.
-Formulated by cosmetic chemists and sold by an aesthetician who has years of hands-on experience with a true understanding of the skin and its function.
-Have a range of products that address different skin types and skin conditions.
-No added synthetic fragrances, colors or dyes. This lessens your chance of sensitivity and irritation to these unnecessary chemicals.
-High quality ingredients with proven results.
Over The Counter products:
-Made in large batches for the masses so more preservatives are added since the shelf life will need to be longer.
-May have less or lower percentage of active ingredients since they will be sold to “for all skin types” and therefore need to be more basic, simpler formulas.
-Formulated by chemists and presented and sold to the public by corporate marketing specialists.
Lots of hype and clever marketing jargon to get you to buy it.
-Most products are made for “one size fits all.” (If you’re looking for results, it’s imperative that you use products formulated for the unique needs of your skin.)
-Added synthetic dyes, colors and fragrances to heighten the sensory experience and esthetic look for the sole purpose of encouraging sales.
-Low quality, inexpensive oils with potential pore clogging properties. The drug store is loaded with products containing mineral oil and petroleum which are forbidden ingredients by professional skin care formulators.
Since skin care formulas are proprietary, cheap products can easily disguise themselves as looking like quality products–especially if fancy packaging is used. Encourage your clients to choose a skin care company that they trust. The credentials of the company as well as positive results experienced by real customers make all of the difference in skin care. Additionally, your chosen professional product line should offer product education to ensure safe usage of the product.
After you compare and contrast OTC vs. Professional products with your client remember to say this all important statement: “I would love to be your trusted skin care professional!”

Excited to have both of these products in stock! I've been using it on my own skin to try out for the past week, love how it makes my skin feel refreshed.
Ask Our Educator! Q: I have a question on the Beta-Carotene Serum. My client, who is pregnant, is considering using this but how often do you recommend that she use the Beta-Carotene Serum? She has dry skin with some breakouts and a little redness. Thanks.
A: Apply every night after cleansing on face, neck and chest. Apply moisturizer if needed. Reduce usage if flaking occurs. The Beta-Carotene/Papain Renewal Serum improves the skin’s barrier integrity by balancing surface lipids. This serum also exfoliates to reduce visible wrinkles. Also, you’re right, this serum was developed to help normalize skin during pregnancy. On a side note: our Raspberry Refining Scrub was developed to work in conjunction with the Beta Carotene/Papain Renewal Serum. Gently scrub with the Raspberry Refining Scrub 2 – 3 times a week. Follow with the Beta Carotene/Papain Renewal Serum. We have both products packaged in a duo set called the Refine & Renew Duo should your clients want to purchase that way.
