Of all scar types, hypopigmented scars (white scars) are among the most challenging to treat.
This patient had a beautiful response after just two fractionated CO₂ laser treatments combined with laser-assisted drug delivery performed by Dr. Kamrani (Dr. Payvand Kamrani | Dermatologist)
Fractionated CO₂ laser works by creating microscopic channels in the skin, allowing targeted medications to pe*****te more effectively. In this case, bimatoprost was delivered into the skin to help stimulate melanocytes - the pigment-producing cells responsible for restoring color.
By combining resurfacing to improve texture with pigment stimulation to address color loss, we can target two of the biggest concerns with hypopigmented scars: uneven texture and lack of pigment.

We’re surrounded by aesthetic trends every day. With constant exposure to images, filters, and beauty standards, it can become harder to recognize what “natural” actually looks like.
In aesthetics, we often talk about this as perception drift - when repeated exposure slowly shifts our idea of what feels “normal.” As physicians, we see this happen regularly. But for patients, it isn’t always easy to recognize.
The best aesthetic results are about respecting your anatomy, preserving your expressions, and making thoughtful choices that enhance what’s already there.

5 months away from final results and already showing beautiful contour improvement!
This photo was taken just 30 days after tumescent liposuction. While swelling will continue to improve over the coming months, we are so thrilled to see these results so far.
Tumescent liposuction is performed in-office using tumescent local anesthesia, meaning patients remain awake and comfortable throughout the procedure. It is designed to target stubborn pockets of fat that may not respond to diet and exercise alone, helping refine and improve body contours without the need for general anesthesia.
Although final results are typically seen around 6 months, most patients are considered “event ready” by 3 months post procedure. That’s why we encourage those with weddings, vacations, reunions, or other special events to plan ahead!

The Fraxel Dual is best known for treating sun damage, brown spots, fine lines, and uneven skin texture. In practice, it has many more applications!
Research suggests that non-ablative fractional lasers like Fraxel Dual may help reduce the risk of certain non-melanoma skin cancers by removing damaged cells and stimulating the regeneration of healthier skin. While Fraxel is not a substitute for sunscreen, regular skin checks, or other proven prevention strategies, the possibility of a treatment providing both aesthetic and medical benefits is an exciting area of ongoing research.
In this blog, we break down:
• What the research shows
• How Fraxel works
• What we know so far
• Other strategies that may help reduce skin cancer risk
One of the things we love most about dermatology is when cosmetic and medical benefits overlap. Better looking skin is great - but healthier skin is even better!

Back from LA after a weekend with Galderma and an incredible group of fellow principal investigators from a recent clinical trial.
We spent the weekend reviewing trial data and discussing the upcoming launch of a new neuromodulator that we expect to see on the market soon. It’s always exciting to be part of these conversations and to help bring new innovations to our patients.
Grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with such a talented group, exchange ideas, and get an early look at what’s next in aesthetics!

One of the most common questions we hear this time of year is whether laser treatments have to wait until fall or winter.
The answer? It’s not a simple yes or no!
The real question isn’t what month it is. It’s whether your lifestyle allows for the sun precautions needed before and after treatment. While some laser treatments require significant downtime and strict sun avoidance, many can be performed safely during the summer with the right planning and precautions.
If you’re spending every weekend at the pool, heading to the beach, or planning a sunny vacation, it may make sense to wait. But if you’re diligent with sun protection and don’t spend much time outdoors, treatment may still be an option.
Not all lasers are created equal, and the best timing depends on the treatment, your goals, and your schedule.
Our latest blog talks about laser treatments (particularly CO2) and considerations for timing treatment!
Can You Do CO2 Laser During Summer? What A Derm Wants You To Know - Aesthetic Solutions With laser resurfacing, timing matters. Dr. Ishii reviews all the considerations for CO2 laser during summer.

Before + After three V-beam treatments to the undereye area with our PA team✨
One of the biggest misconceptions patients have about undereye rejuvenation is that filler is the answer to every concern. While filler can be an excellent tool for the right patient, the undereyes are more complex than they appear.
In this case, redness from visible blood vessels was a major contributor to a tired appearance. By treating the vascular component with V-beam, we were able to significantly improve the discoloration and brighten the undereye area, helping this patient look more refreshed without the use of injectables.
A great reminder that successful undereye treatment starts with understanding why the area looks tired in the first place. Volume loss, pigmentation, vascularity, skin quality, and anatomy can all play a role, which is why a thoughtful assessment is so important.
