Haven & Hues is officially open to everyone and we’re planning our Grand Opening Celebration for early September! We wanted to wait until the weather cools down a bit and everyone is past the chaos of summer vacations and back to school schedules so we can make it a day worth celebrating.

My son is the big thirteen today and I haven’t seen him for longer than 48 hours in way too long.😭 When you’re working constantly, it doesnt make for much of a summer for a kid so he’s been in Michigan enjoying the lakes and his friends.🥺 The next three days, I won’t be responding to any work messages or texts unless you reach out for an emergency. 🚨🚨 Hey, so can we have a real talk for a sec? 🚨🚨

There has been a lottttt of interest in lip filler lately, and i love that! And I want you all to feel your best and get whatever makes you feel more confident done. But I think it’s important that people know exactly what they’re signing up for because some people are really taking advantage of people who just want to look their best and feel good.

Not everything being marketed as “lip filler” is the same thing. There is a salon in town who absolutely is not being transparent with yall and it’s truly madenning because your safety and health are at risk when people aren’t honest about their methods, service risks and their prior training. So here I am to tell you:

NEEDLESS LIP FILLER IS NOT SAFE.
NEEDLELESS FILLER IS ALSO
CALLED A HYLAURON PEN.
IT IS NOT PAINLESS.
IT IS NOT THE BETTER ROUTE.

IT IS DAMAGING. IT IS WRECKLESS.

Unfortunately, although in my opinion it’s not ethical to simply market it as if it is traditional filler, it IS LEGAL.
So please beware.

A hyaluron pen is not the same as injectable dermal filler performed by a licensed medical professional. They are completely different techniques with different levels of precision, training, and risk. They literally use a randomize pressure and forced to just spray filler through your lip anywhere it lands. There is no precision. It often doesn’t even last and leaves lumps and bumps that linger much longer than they should do to inaccurate depth and tissue damage from the spray.

There is no way to know if theyre trained to notice if a vessel is occluded. If it has been occluded, it can cut off blood flow to not only your lip, but other areas. And if you do not go to a medical professional, the odds are, they don’t have a dissolver on hand to properly handle an emergency situation.

There are no regulations on these pens therefore anyone can purchase them and market them how they please. Please stay as far away from these pens, and the people using them as possible. 

As an aesthetic RN, I spent years learning facial anatomy, blood vessels, sterile technique, and most importantly, how to recognize and manage complications if they happen. That’s because your lips aren’t just a cosmetic treatment. They’re part of your health.

Before anyone touches your face, ask:
• Are you legally qualified to perform this procedure?
• What product are you using?
• What happens if something goes wrong?
• Can you treat a complication if it happens?

Those questions shouldn’t make anyone uncomfortable. They should be easy to answer.
And if they respond with anything other than yes and straight forward answers.. WALK AWAY. It should most definitely not be answered with, “I used to be a physical therapist” then brushed off.

And you should most definitely NOT have to sign an NDA at the time of service to defer you from sharing your experience. This should be a RED FLAG.

The cheapest option isn’t always the safest option, and fixing a bad outcome is almost always more expensive, more painful, and more emotional than doing it correctly the first time.

This isn’t about tearing anyone down. If you have to tear another business down for people to choose you, I think you’re a loser. Nobody asked and I don’t care if that’s professional or not but that screams loser and bully. Thats not whats happening here. It’s about educating my audience and making sure people have enough information to make an informed decision before trusting just anyone with their face and safety.

Even if im not your injector of choice, choose the injected technique with whoever you prefer over the Hylauron pen every time.

Your lips are permanent and they are a statement.
They deserve to be treated delicately and with respect. Make sure the person treating them has the education, training, and qualifications to give you what results you desire and deserve.🫶🏼

A TRIPLE fireworks show on the Kanawha river tonight as the City of Charleston, WV and West Virginia 250 Capital City Celebration combined forces for an elaborate and synchronized fireworks display in THREE locations in Charleston; The on the East End, The Levee downtown for the Charleston Sternwheel Regatta, and Magic Island on the West Side. I love that the world's tallest mobile Ferris wheel is also in this photo, the America 250 Wheel.
