Made from reclaimed lumber, each flag wears its unique past visible through its nails, knots, scuffs

So I wound up making a flag that I just couldn't sell... There have been plenty that Marissa and I love, and wanted to keep- however we can't keep everyone we love, otherwise every wall would be filled with patriotism (what's wrong with that?!!! ****marriage****). But this one I finally put my foot down on and decided this will be in our home for as long as we have a home. And with that stubbornness to sell, it turned out that Mary and Don each loved it just as much as we did. So they ordered their own version of it- Loving how they turned out and can't wait for them to arrive at their final destinations!

Beautiful new Betsy Ross flag finished up yesterday! Individually hand-chiseled stars, a 5 piece vertical union, awesome reclaimed red oak that originally had barbed wire wrapped through it...

UPDATE: SOLD...! To a true Charlestonian and patriot. Lauren Blanton I hope this stays in the family and the history gets passed down for generations.....

This flag is truly one of a kind. This wood is weathered, it's burnt, and it is over 160 years old. I came across this wood via a friend in Charleston who had cleaned up a tragedy- during hurricane Matthew last year, a house in downtown Charleston, that was built in 1850, caught fire and collapsed. The stripes on this flag are the original siding from the house. There is no stain on any of the stripes or union; the "lighter" stripes were accomplished by shaving off about a 1/16th of an inch from the original aged siding to reveal the beautiful color hiding beneath.

Imagine the history that the wood in this flag his been a part of. It's seen America through so many struggles, fights, successes, and changes. It was standing strong, in protection of its inhabitants, in the city when and where the first shots of the Civil War were fired.

This has been one of my absolute favorites the whole way through and I can't wait for it to continue its American history as someone's cherished symbol of our freedom.

We call this one The Bentley... after our boy (pictured below). Although he's got Hungarian heritage, he was born in GA and therefore is our American [Hungarian] Vizsla pup.

Made from a combination of sapele and pine, this handsome flag has some beautiful grain and knots that makes it pop with 'Merican pride in any space.

I call this one American Maple Syrup.

This flag, made from a combination of reclaimed maple and sapele, is INCREDIBLE. So much beautiful grain visible through the very subtle stain on the sapele, and only a clear danish oil on the maple.

18 individual pieces of reclaimed wood make up this beaut, and are complimented by the 50 individually, first burned, then hand chiseled stars.

If no one falls in love with this one and needs to bring it home, my wife won't be upset... ;) But if you decide your home needs some more American pride in it, send me a message and we can arrange safe and comfortable transport.
