I’m a 33 year old dermatology chief resident & I’m not ashamed to admit that...
1. I often tell patients to use fewer products, not more.
Most people don't need a 10-step skincare routine. Some of the best results come from simplifying, repairing the skin barrier, and being consistent.
2. I'd rather help you prevent aging than chase it later.
Daily sunscreen, a retinoid, and healthy habits will usually do more for your skin long-term than trying to reverse years of damage.
3. I care just as much about your neck and chest as your face.
Those areas receive years of UV exposure and are often the first places to show signs of aging. If you're using retinol and sunscreen on your face, don't stop there.
4. I would never use a tanning bed.
Indoor tanning devices are classified as a Group 1 carcinogen. The same category as to***co smoking and asbestos. That classification is based on evidence that they cause cancer.
5. I've had countless sunburns myself.
That's exactly why I'm so passionate about prevention. I've learned from my own mistakes and want my patients to avoid them.
