Happy Juneteenth and Father's Day weekend! This afternoon, we're set up at Carolina Beer Temple in Matthews from 1-5p. It's a nice day to sip a cold bev or have an ice cream cone, hang out, and support small businesses.

Tomorrow we'll be in High Point from 1-6p for the Juneteenth Celebration. Join us for music performances, food trucks and treats, a farmers market, and small business vendors.

Juneteenth is the oldest national celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United states. Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that the Union soldiers, led by Major general Gordon granger, landed at Galveston TX with the news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free. Note that this was two and a half years after President Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation -which had become official January 1, 1863.

We're thrilled to be returning for the 3rd annual University City Juneteenth Art Fest!🫧🧴 The Fest is sponsored by ASC Culture Blocks — a community partnership funded by Mecklenburg County. I took a tour of our gracious Midwood Market host location, Wiloe, after packing up today. As you can see, their retail space is beautifully decorated. They carry a thoughtful variety of home goods, art, and more -most of which is created by small businesses right here in Charlotte! Check them out at 1520 Lyon Ct in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood.
