It’s a McHenry Christmas 🎄 💕🍀
And extra special with our dog child! She was only so into gifts this year. She opened her presents and back on the couch she went. She was absolutely in love with her Christmas dinner though!

Who dis?! I feel like I’m a specialist in Dementia already. Yet, when I get approached to take a Dementia certification class (eventho I’m non-traditional, so technically I didn’t get the certification) I take it! I wanted to see what I could understand more, what I didn’t know & see how much I actually knew.

Yesterday’s visit was one for the books! 💕
Meet my beautiful new client — 94 years young and glowing after her fresh wash & cut 💇🏽♀️✨
Ignore the sneaky, unflattering pics of me (didn’t know I was being photographed lol — but hey, it’s not about me 😅).
When her daughter called asking if I could “just come wash her hair,” I ran through a few ways to make it work — and mentioned a reclining wheelchair as a game changer. She ordered it right away, and BOOM 💥 it arrived just in time for our appointment.
Let me tell you, this chair is amazing:
🛞 Weight-based reclining
🦶 Removable foot holders
💺 Fully leans back
🎯 Lightweight and portable
I stood right in the shower with her reclined back and gave her a proper wash — which turned into a full haircut too! This is what I mean by personalized, in-home hair care with love and creativity 💗

Thankful this past weekend I got to celebrate Dawn turning 50 & Sam.. my god-child (and I’ll just say, if I were to have a kid, she’s my clone)…turning 17. When I first moved to CLT in 2008, they were one of the first families I met, who quickly became family.
How is this child of mine no longer a toddler and walking into senior year?!? ❤️

How May started. Celebrating this amazing woman & her legend. I called her “The First Lady.” She absolutely lived how The First Lady lived. It was truly an honor & shocked all in one when I got an invite to her funeral at Arlington Cemetery. And felt so high-class attending the celebration at Army-Navy Country Club. This funeral was an incredible experience I’ll never forget. Once in a lifetime experience!
She’s truly someone I wish I knew in her younger years. Her patience, gift of gab, the love she had for everyone and I mean EVERYONE, her way of turning anything negative into positive & happy or acceptance. The list goes on. She knew every Thursday it was hair day and who I was even when she couldn’t tell you who anyone in the room was. Hair meant that much to her.
Our worlds were small! She had family in my hometown of Garner, and we both have family in Charlottesville, she vacationed in areas my family vacationed b/c of family. I constantly asked her about her childhood born & raised in D.C. And how was life as a wife of a diplomat!! A man who helped right up a Treaty with Russia! How did she become friends with enemies (countries) wives and how did you trust people!!! To know her .. is to know what her answer of “you just did it. You were nice to everyone. You invited them into your home to be an example of love & friendliness.” I will absolutely miss this woman! She touched my life more than she’ll ever know. And her family has invited me into their family like I’m one of them.

There’s something about serving a community outside of the salon that brings me peace, gratefulness, gratitude, exposure, wisdom, growth & compassion. And it’s moments in their families grievance, the family members find a way to give thanks to the ones who treated their loved one like a human all while giving patience & compassion each time their loved one was served. This card couldn’t had came at a better day or time yesterday.
A day of “rainy blues” yet, 2025 is full of BIG LIFE CHANGES every time I turn around. One I think I’m getting over the “hump” of one… another pops up. As I give myself grace and endorsement for how the new me is handling it all, it doesn’t mean there’s not weak days & confusion thrown in the mix. All good problems & a bigger and brighter future is on the horizon even if I can’t see it now.

A hairstylist life is always in motion. Eyes go straight to hair… Placing it, fixing it wherever we are, styling it, etc. And, let me not leave out.. we’re always last to get ready. Usually the last 20-30 mins are left for us.
Anyhow.. a few pics captured for mother’s retirement weekend! North Carolina DHHS lost one of the best due to retirement! She was well overdue for her day! ✌🏽OUT NC! captured us so well! The childhood memories in the kitchen come with so many, esp with Megan. My sista from another m***a!
Good Morning folks!!
CLIENTS PLEASE READ:
As of yesterday, 3.22… I was informed that we have new ownership over our building. The typical situation has happened, they want to extreme inflat price + do extreme add-on charges. Therefore.. the next typical situation is happening.. they’d love for nothing more than for us to leave. As of 4.30.. I’LL BE OUT OF MY CURRENT LOCATION!
As most know, about 80%-85% of my business is on the road now. Im NOT giving up on my Salon life since I still enjoy it. That said, I’ve got to figure out what best fits me & where makes sense Location wise.
I kindly ask that you have patience with me as I navigate this immiediate change that’s been thrown my way. I’ve got a few ideas I’m pondering. If you hear of anything, I’ll take suggestions. I’ll be making a decision in the next couple weeks and will let everyone know.
Please type “bump” to let me know who is seeing this!

Recap of 2024:
Started with…
- the ending of a personal depression & grief depression and finding myself again. Becoming more confident in self-love & self-awareness than I’ve ever felt in my life. Understanding my own value and standing firm in my devotion.
- had to unlearn emotions & figure out ways with finding hope, joy & happiness. Something I lost within myself for quite a while
- realizing I found my purpose in life.. it’s to serve folks with my talents
- understanding all negative isn’t bad. It’s about truly figuring out the silver lining and coming to terms with my purpose in life is bigger than my existence. The lessons are all apart of that purpose
- with every client I have the chance to touch & create, comes new perspectives & and chance to grow
- enjoying my elderly folks and the footprints they bring to my life. The wisdom I’m able to gain, the true ability in how amazing they are and are underestimated
Here’s to 2025 …
I dunno how to put into words of what I’m looking forward too. Yet I know, this year is going to bring amazing things that will truly change my life and career. With that, will bring huge blessings and challenges. As my mom says.. I gotta be in it for the long game. Aka patience that I start to run out of, which will in return bring & achieve greatness!
