Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage month is a wonderful reminder for me to spend extra time appreciating my heritage. It’s also important to me to share that with Elliott and Mags, who are both half-Chinese through me. I struggle as an interracial-adoptee to connect with my culture, so I love being able to bridge the gap for both myself and my children through food, holidays and continued education.

I try to be fairly open about my struggle with anxiety, depression, and ADHD. Shame caused me to hide them for a long time, but I think it’s important for others to know they aren’t alone. I will admit my mental health has been really bad lately. Post-partum coupled with a new diagnosis of OCD with Panic Attacks has meant having to try new meds because what I had before was no longer working. Mental health is a journey. Sometimes it’s hard to be struggling when there isn’t anything outwardly wrong, but I try to be accepting that there are ups and downs to this. This month is a great time to be educated on mental health struggles, how they affect others, and how to be empathetic to those around you. 🇨🇳❤️
