Your Ancient Remedy started in 2006, in a kitchen. I just wanted to create soap to help my kids with eczema. I learned that many soap companies extracted glycerin, a by-product of soap that draws moisture to it, in order to sell it separately, for profit. I braved the fear of working with lye, a product that brings oil and water together. I put my gloves, and goggles on and I did it! I couldn’t stop making it! It became a hobby business called “May Knead, May Knot”. I stayed doing local craft shows, met some great people. The business helped get me through some tough times. I made a lot of mistakes and learned a lot from those mistakes. My number one goal has always been to help people like my family was helped. Later after my life transition, I had to build a life for myself after divorce, I renamed my business “Your Ancient Remedy” to reflect my new life. I was a business owner of an LLC! Fast forward to 2026, life as we know it is VERY different from what I thought it would be in our world. The costs of everything is going up. Like many small, black, woman-owned businesses we sometimes have to pivot and reimagine in order to survive. YAR has made a decision to pause/close for now. I am pursuing some other things that I’ll share on social media and to email subscribers (they get the word first). Please continue to follow us for updates. You’ll see the name in the future.
