My story:
I have struggled to achieve and maintain a healthy weight my whole life. I had my daughter at 34 and as most women can relate, I struggled even more to learn my new body and what would work. When she was 1, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. After having a complete thyroidectomy, I was left with a new normal of being dependent on medication for the rest of my life. While trying to find balance through the treatments, I found myself gaining 30lbs and feeling all the terrible effects of severe hypothyroidism. For perspective, my TSH was 43 (normal is 0.5-5.0). My endocrinologist was so shocked she had me retested only to have a new result of 49….I was progressively getting worse.

I have been fighting like hell since then; mentally, physically, and emotionally. Working with my physicians, we were finally able to get my levels back to normal and stabilized. I decided to take control over years of inconsistency and buckle down on my fitness and nutrition. Fast forward to December 2023 and I am the best version of myself that I have been in years! I have energy, confidence, and even a new found ambition to pursue tough physical challenges.

I am a representation of what I tell my clients is possible (especially the women). You’re a mom, great that doesn’t stop you. You’ve gained weight and are the heaviest you’ve ever been, no problem we know the body is just as capable of losing the weight as it was gaining. You have hypothyroidism, I completely understand and am here to tell you that doesn’t mean you can’t lose the weight, it just looks different.
