May is Syringomyelia Awareness Month and I have been slacking on the posts.! Syringomyelia is a disorder in which a fluid-filled cyst (called a syrinx) forms within the spinal cord. Over time, the syrinx can get bigger and can damage the spinal cord and compress and injure the nerve fibers that carry information to the brain and from the brain to the rest of the body. This i how I feel most of the time. People think we fake feeling sick, when we actually fake our smile most of the time. When you’re chronically ill, you learn to live with the pains and discomfort everyday brings, so you smile as there’s nothing left to do, you’ve tried all the remedies and you must go on with life. But, there are days where we can’t hide the pain so well and we end up looking like this. Please be kind to others as you don’t know what they’re battling on a daily basis.
