When it comes down to it…do you add value? Not, do You THINK You add value. Do you actually add value. Of course you feel like you do just by existing. But from a business perspective, Do you add value?
Can the clients trust your product recommendations and hair care plan will work?
Will you do a poor job at maintaining their hair. Only to turn around and charge them for treatments and deep conditioners to “get back healthy”?
Are there a ton of Fees before they can see you, already shampooed?
Maybe they’re going over there cuz
you’re of no value.
Healthy Hair. Not because it’s straight. The hair is hydrated and strong. Shedding is minimal. Split ends are at a minimum. Length Retention is happening.
We had a plan, stuck to it. Stayed consistent and these are the results.
Here are a few things that I learned about hair cutting.
Master a straight line. Sounds simple, but the straight line is notoriously hard to keep straight.
You certainly will need a lot of patience. Patience comes in handy when you just learned a cut or technique. You are eager to implement what you recently learned. You do so, and it doesn’t come out the way you expected it to. Patience is needed to figure out why things didn’t go as expected.
Understanding the hair type plays a big part of how haircuts come out. A Bob is a Bob. But a Bob on fine hair is going to lay and flow differently than a Bob on coarse hair. Same haircut, different results.
The hair crease can happen when you stop moving the iron on the hair. That pause is more than enough to break up the momentum.
Let this be a life lesson as well. Continue moving and growing, so that you don’t end up creased.
The Blowout and your technique, are the backbone for a Silk Press. This step is where you can literally break the hair. Overblowing, which is, repeatedly going over the hair. After it is dry. Even with heat protection, the hair can still become weak.
Under blowing. Happens when not enough tension is used. Leaving too much texture. Requiring you to use more heat and tension to straighten the hair.
Let’s Work on not being in either of these categories.
NEW MONIKER: I am….Press Lee.
L’Víse Press Lee to be exact. Address me accordingly from now on.
Edges on Fleek. I wrote a song about it. Like to hear it?
You have to treat those edges with gentle care. Before you don’t got nun.
Stovin is a condition where you just can’t stop being a Tool Artist. I was heavily influenced by extravagant hair shows. The artistry, the showmanship. Drama, anticipation, storylines, a high level of hair theatre. The shows were Super Dope. A lot of yall missed out. It’s cool, we never texted you.
A snag at the neck can win or lose you a client. Take your time and don’t power through the snag. Be gentle. Be nice. And the snag will be nice to you. Otherwise she can and will go to…
