On days like today—literal snow days—we’re reminded to slow down, check on our people, and prioritize presence over productivity. 🎨🫶🏽

But what if you don’t have community nearby right now? You can still create these moments for yourself.

Creative wellness you can do solo:
• Grab a cheap canvas from the dollar store and paint alone with your favorite playlist
• FaceTime a friend and paint “together” virtually—show each other your progress
• Journal with colorful pens or markers instead of just writing
• Try a paint-by-numbers kit while you catch up on a show
• Set up your space with candles, snacks, and good vibes—treat yourself like the guest of honor

Not into painting? Try these:
• Coloring books (adult coloring is proven to reduce anxiety)
• Making a vision board or mood board for the season
• Playing with clay or air-dry sculpting
• Arranging flowers or plants—even fake ones count
• Dancing freely in your living room to your favorite songs
• Writing poetry or freestyle rapping in your notes app
• Trying a new recipe and plating it beautifully
• Rearranging your space to feel fresh and intentional

Taking care of yourself—alone or together—is still taking care of yourself. Community is beautiful, but so is your relationship with you.

This is my great-grandfather Julius. He didn’t know the term “self-intimacy,” but he lived it every day.

He showed up for his people. Created space in his own way.

That’s the work I’m continuing.

And in 2026, I’m finally going deeper. Blending beauty practices with ancestral wisdom. Creating more experiences where you can show up, be seen, and remember who you come from.
Because this isn’t just about skincare routines and mud baths. It’s about ritual. It’s about connection. It’s about honoring yourself the way your ancestors honored themselves.

These two are powerful, dynamic, and beautiful Black voices in this space who will bring just the right amount of elevation we need to take it higher from Sessions Volume 2, where the jazz vibes originated. ✨

PrettyRiot is a poet, performer, and radio host rooted in Chicago’s creative scene. Her work blends poetry, music, and culture to reflect the beauty and complexity of her life. With a commanding voice and lyrical presence, she brings soul to life on every stage.

MEET INGA ✨

Your ethereal vocalist for our curated jazz lounge this weekend in Fulton Market.
Inga has such a beautiful spirit. When she reached out about performing at Sessions on TikTok, I hadn’t even considered who I wanted for the night—but she was such an alignment, I was immediately happy to have her and we locked it in.
We had a very genuine connection at her facial treatment with me, where we got to mingle and get to know each other. We hit it off, both being Cancer women guided by intuition, light, love, and spirituality—as well as our creativity and willingness to be vulnerable with the people around us and show up for them in whatever capacity is needed.
Inga has been a light in helping me see more light within myself, even in the short time we’ve known each other.
I’m so excited and grateful to have her as the energy and presence for our main entertainment of the night, alongside our saxophonist. I think you all will truly enjoy her.
If you didn’t already want to come to Sessions because of the vibe and soul food, then you’ll want to come because you don’t want to miss Inga—up close and personal—performing 3 tracks from her upcoming EP, Ingaludes. I got a chance to hear the unreleased tracks and wow. So beautiful. So authentic.
