We need to bring back Black beaches and resorts!

During segregation, when Black families were shut out of beaches, resorts, pools, and places of rest, our communities built their own. These historic Black resort towns became more than vacation spots. They were safe havens for leisure, ownership, connection, and freedom.

And in a time when so much of Black history is still being challenged, erased, or watered down, remembering these places matters even more.

Their stories remind us that rest is part of our legacy too.
