ABOUT US. Huetiful Salon opened in 2012 in Atlanta; introducing hair steam treatments to the natural hair salon community and focusing on nothing but natural hair care services. FIGHTING SUMMERTIME HUMIDITY
If you been keeping check, you might've noticed in uptick in humidity-related frizz and a difficulty keeping and maintaining your hair style as soon as you step out to enjoy these remaining summer days. The primary reason is that porous curls absorb the outside air humidity.

Included in the list are cities like Baton Rouge ( #11), San Francisco ( #1), and Houston ( #10). While your city might not make this dubious list, the humidity and heat in your town or city does crank up in the summer months.

There are three recommendations that we're making to help keep the frizz at bay in August and September.

Hair Steaming to keep your hair hydrated. Since our inception, we've offered free hair steam treatments with every (non-color) service. The average Huetiful hair steam treatment releases 8 ounces of steam under the hood. This hydration, when combined with proteins and amino acids from our conditioning treatment, fill up the hair strand and make it less able to absorb humidity. The end result is less frizz.

Huetiful Glycolic Strengthening Treatments. This is a $25 add-on to any Huetiful Salon service and the treatment is applied just before the steam treatment so that it deeply pe*****tes into the cortex of every hair strand. With protein and amino acids, it helps fill and strengthen the hair strand. Glycerin is also a key ingredient which acts as a humectant; retaining and preserving moisture in your hair.

Brrrrrrr. This cold snap has stretched across the entire midwest, northeast and southeast! Winter weather can be damaging and drying for curly and natural hair. The cold, dry air makes already-dry hair drier. Hats and hoods wick away oils secreted from the scalp or used in products.

Here are a few tips to help you and your curls manage this winter a bit better.

1. Keep your hair hydrated and moisturized. When temperatures drop, we tend to turn the heat up and work or sleep in rooms that are heated. The heat is typically low humidity / dry heat and that has an adverse effect on your curls. Your hair actually is, in its natural healthy state, between 8 to 12% water. When it drops below 8%, you will experience increased breakage, split ends, and dryness. To combat this seasonal dryness, we recommend a monthly hair steam treatment and the use of hair care products that have higher oil or moisture content. A daily spritz of our Huetiful Protectant Spray, used in all of our Huetiful Salons, is also advised at it contains water and glycerin, which acts as a humidity retaining humectant. Consider also using a sulfate-free shampoo as it has fewer ingredients, like surfactants, that can dry hair out.

2. Avoid certain fabrics. Coarse fabrics can snag the cuticle of your curl, causing damage and frizz. This means stay away from wool hats. Mainstays like using a satin pillowcase will also help with breakage and preserving your style between shampoos. If you don’t have a couple, we also recommend towels made from microfibers. Microfiber towels like this one , with a button loop closure, are large enough to be worn like a turban and can dry up to 50% more effectively. That means less time spent drying and less heat-related damage.
