By understanding skin physiology, you can make better, educated choices when it comes to treating and choosing the correct skincare for your skin type. Improper use of even the best products can strip your skins barrier function and cause problems including sensitivities/irritation, acne, aging and dehydration.

•The Acid Mantle is made up of water, sweat and sebum. It’s a part of the skin’s natural barrier function, specifically the chemical protection of the skin. This layer is acidic by nature. It has a pH range of around 4.5 - 5.5. Due to this acidic nature, the acid mantle acts as a barricade to microbes and other foreign substances trying to pe*****te our skin. It preserves our skin microbiome and helps the skin to maintain moisture and suppleness.

•The Skin Barrier Function refers to the Stratum Corneum, which is the outermost layer of your skin.
The main purpose of the barrier function is to retain water within your skin, block foreign substances & environmental stressors, modulate your immune system, and fight off oxidative stress.

KEEPING A HEALTHY BARRIER FUNCTION:

•Do’s
✅Cleanse with lukewarm or cold water

✅Double Cleansing
**Oil/Balm cleanser followed by regular cleanser

✅Exfoliate 2-3 times a week

✅Gently pat face dry

•Dont’s
❌Cleanse with hot water

❌Over Cleanse/ Harsh Scrubbing

❌Over exfoliate

❌Rub face dry

5 years ago today I announced for the first time that I was opening my own business and becoming my own boss. As a kid, I had a deep love and passion for all things beauty and playing dress up. I always told myself and others around me where I’d end up…now it’s time to climb to the next mountain top 🏔. The hustle, grind & growth never stops. Thank you to every single friend (you mean way more to me than just clients) who has supported me and continued to support me throughout all my trials and tribulations of branching out and starting my own business. Making others feel good about themselves inside&out will always be why I do what I do. I love and appreciate you all more than words could ever tell.

P.s I love and live to be behind the scenes. I’ve never had professional headshots taken bc I feel awkward truthfully, so I found it very fitting to find an old Baby Babs diva photo 💁🏻‍♀️.

Color correcting previous work done elsewhere. We both were very happy with the outcome 🥰. Once I showed her the pre draw she got so excited and said “my husband is going to love it, he loves thick eyebrows”. Okay and we love him 👏🏽😅😻.

I logged into my old email and found my “Admission Letter” to DouglasJAveda and a recommendation letter from one of my favorite high school teachers . My teachers at DouglasJ were amazing but the institute itself was a cult and I find this whole process laughable now, but what I wrote still holds true. Although I’m 25 I’ve had many different jobs. At 15 I worked as an office secretary at a driving school (my dad would drop me off until I got my license lol). At 17 my high school had a class where I was able to have half days and go to work (at a nail salon) and still get school credit. I have worked as an after school teachers aide to 25 2nd graders. I’ve worked sales in Designer shoes at Nordstrom and got to dabble a little in personal shopping. I’ve worked at multiple Benefit Boutiques in Chicago as a Makeup Artist and Esthetician. Reading my letter reminded me of my “Why”. Why am I doing all of this? What is this all for?
I truly just love helping people. I have a genuine interest for so many things and I figured why not share more of it. I’m grateful for the new clientele I’m able to receive from social media from before and afters but honestly it gets boring and discouraging time to time, for me personally. While of course I’ll still share my before and afters of the many different services I offer, be prepared to see well...a lot more 😏💁🏼‍♀️.

We have been tinting AnaLorena’s brows for years. Although I’m lucky enough to see her for many services (cause she’s just that awesome). I no longer have to provide tinting services and she can throw away her brow pencils 😜. This service is called 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴- it’s a combination of microblading strokes and machine shading, for that “sn**chural” look I live for.
