When I got my salon 5 years ago I was on top of the world, lol. It was definitely a flex for me to be a young black man, with an amazing clientele that I worked hard asl for, doing business in a place known to be top notch with other successful business owners. I wasn’t a business owner though, I was leasing the space. In the last three years, I haven’t made a profit off of the brick and mortar. I only hung in there because the person who created this world made it possible to be able to comfortably afford to keep leasing, and because I was afraid of what people would think if I gave up. Yup, big tough talking me was afraid of what people would think, lol. Now at this big age, I realize that shelling out 3k+ a month and not pulling in anything on the profit side is not a flex at all. So with that being said I am closing the doors at 1926 S Wabash. I am starting the process of looking for a brick and mortar to PURCHASE instead of leasing so that the payments will read Courtney Roberts to The SupaStar Experience instead of my hard earned $ making someone else rich. That will be a real flex for me! During this transition and until I find the perfect property, I will be located at MJ2 Hair and Nail Boutique 2015 S Indiana Ave Chicago, Il 60616. Being transparent, I’m kind of sad leaving behind my first real baby but, I’m super excited to be getting this ball rolling and even more excited to share with you the journey❤️ All appointments starting today, will be at the new location mentioned above, see you soon!
