Who do you know that embodies the word 'strength'?

We got to meet the great Muhammad Ali at the Muhammad Ali Center Humanitarian Awards. Here's a 74 year old man battling Parkinson's and a 12 year old boy who has Osteogenesis Imperfecta. Two images of what real strength looks like. In the moment we took this photo I was struck by that word: strength.

We don't celebrate real strength enough. It takes superhuman strength some days to be a person. There are people we go to school with or work with or go through life with who inspire us with their strength and they probably have no clue they're inspiring us. They might not even see themselves as strong. Remind them.

Maybe you need to be reminded how strong you are. We're all fighting battles. Some are battles with illness. Some are battles with people. Yet, most of our battles are on the inside. I know mine are:

You're not good enough. You're not the right age. You're too weird. You're too ... whatever.

Can I take a moment to remind you how strong you are? You may have forgotten it, but you are. Yes, you are weird, but you are also wonderful. Stop being afraid of what battles might come your way and give thinks for the battles that are right in front of you today. You're going to handle it all with grit and grace. No matter what comes your way. May you be reminded just how strong you are.
