“What’s a gloss???” Is a question I get at least once a week. So let’s talk about it!

Gloss, glaze, toner…..they are all essentially the same thing. Basically it’s demi permanent color that is totally customizable to your needs.

What a gloss can do:
-darken hair
-add shine
-change tone
-cancel out unwanted tones

What gloss can’t do:
-lighten hair

It’s always my #1 recommendation for when a client is unsure of what they are wanting to do but they know they are bored and need a refresh. You can even get a CLEAR gloss if you aren’t wanting to change anything about your color but you need to add shine!

Hey y’all we need to talk about lighting! Before we begin, let’s acknowledge how gorgeous, stunning, and amazing my friend/client is: *cue applause* 👏🏻👏🏻

Ok, back to lighting. Both of these pictures were taken within 24 hours with NO filters. The first one was a selfie that Emily sent me this morning and the second one is from my loft taken yesterday after her appointment. It was a super crappy day out (I have lots of windows in my loft) and my ring light is busted, so that was a no go. I was bummed because I felt as though the pics I took were not doing my work justice. On a gorgeous day, my room has beautiful natural light! I asked her to send me a selfie in good lighting when she had time. I will admit, taking photos of my work is not my strong suit, and most gals know how to take a bomb pic of themselves 😅 My point being, lighting is everything. I’ve probably said this a million times, but I will keep saying it. We all compare ourselves to these Instagram models and girls we see on TikTok, but they all have a few things in common:
-top tier lighting
-filters filters FILTERS
-usually have full hair and makeup
-cute outfit

I know this sounds obvious, but we all do it. The majority of us aren’t going to look like that 24/7. Just something to keep in mind when you’re feeling blah about your hair!

I have exciting news! As of 3/25 I will be upgrading to a WINDOW loft at Salon Lofts in Clayton! My new loft is just down the hall from my current room, in loft #4. My new space is bigger and brighter so I’m very pleased! My hours will be changing with my move as follows:

MONDAYS:10-7
TUESDAYS: 1-7
FRIDAYS: 3-7
SATURDAYS: 9-4

Hey it’s Elise✨I thought now would be a good time to introduce myself since my Instagram feed is mostly pics of my lovely clients 😂 I have been in the industry for a little over 10 years, and the last 5 I have spent working for myself. I truly love being my own boss and having my own space to be creative! I specialize in lived in dimensional color and styling. Here are some “get to know me” tidbits if you’re in the market for a new stylist:

1. I’ve lived in St. Louis my whole life and I really enjoy it! I think we are often slept on so I am always happy to hear when a new comer is liking it here!

2. Trying out new restaurants/coffee shops is definitely a hobby of mine. I am always looking to add new places to my list! Some of my favorites are , , , and .

3. I absolutely love going antiquing/thrifting. Decorating my home brings me so much joy. I truly think I would want to work in interior design if I didn’t work in the beauty industry. I love mixing/matching and making up my own rules!

4. I love to travel! In the last couple years my husband and I have visited Chicago, New York, Washington state, Mexico, The Dominican Republic, and Italy. Italy was definitely my favorite 🇮🇹🍝

5. My favorite tv shows are Bob’s Burgers, Girls, Broad City, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and The Sopranos. I am in a perpetual state of rewatch with all of them at all times 😂

6. I have a dog named Kylo. He is 6 and the perfect companion for DJ and I 🐾
