It was the makeup, hair, and manicures that helped quietly reinforce the female characters on The Sopranos. ✨ If you have any questions about my time as cast manicurist for The Sopranos, let me know in a comment!

In real life, Edie Falco was NOT a fan of long nails but she pulled them off effortlessly while playing the character of Carmela. During the first season of The Sopranos, I did traditional acrylic sets on Edie but from season 2 onwards we switched to press-ons. In her real life, Edie was a very active woman with a house in the mountains and didn’t want to have the long nails full-time. So we switched to press-ons instead! When she was done filming for the day, she would pop her nails off. And then when came back to the set the next day, she would have a fresh set of press-ons glued on. I would make at least 20 sets per week-just for Carmela!
This nail art was inspired by various album covers, from Rihanna to Justin Bieber to Beyonce. 💅🎨
I pushed myself to do this, and didn’t know if it would come out right. But it came out perfectly! It turned out to be an opportunity to explore what I could do with nail art. This is exactly why it’s important to challenge yourself. 🙌

Drea De Matteo LOVED the nails I created for her during The Sopranos. 💅🏻 Her character, Adriana La Cerva, was all about the big hair, lots of makeup, and the long square tip, curvy nails. Fun fact: Many of the Adriana nail designs were created with airbrushing. 🎨🖌️

Happy PRIDE month! 🏳️🌈 This is me and my friend, the incredible Octavia St. Laurent. She was a model, speaker, AIDS educator, and legend in NYC’s ballroom scene. If you don’t know who she is, go watch the documentary Paris is Burning. I can’t believe she’s been gone 15 years and I miss her deeply...the original QUEEN of the ball. ❤️

This is from an Allure Magazine shoot with Heidi Klum back in 2000. I hand painted these nails, NO DECALS! I also painted the original brown and tan Louis Vuitton logo, as well as Chanel, Fendi, and Gucci.
I wish I could find the full spread - it was 6 pages long. I would love to track down this issue!

I absolutely loved this baby pink look on Rihanna that we did years ago for the Dior show. 🎀 For this look, I used OPI Gel Color in shade Bikini Zone.
