happy acne awareness month to all who suffer 🥲

June being acne awareness month felt fitting to reshare my personal battles with acne. the left photo is what my skin looked like in June 2024 - wearing a full face of makeup. the right is June 2026 - wearing a full face of makeup.

the worst my skin had ever been. the most insecure and defeated I had ever felt. no amount of makeup could cover how much I was struggling with my skin. avoiding social events and never taking photos without a filter because I was so insecure and embarrassed of my skin. even though there is absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about, acneic skin is still beautiful, it’s hard to think otherwise when you’re in the thick of it.

to say I understand what you’re going through is an understatement. I know exactly how it feels to be in your shoes, and that’s why I have become so passionate about what I do.

I’ve heard all the recommendations:
“wash your face more”
“drink more water”
“stop wearing makeup, let your skin breathe”
“cut out dairy, sugar & gluten”
none of which actually offered a long term solution or cure.

I understand the struggle and am so honored that you continue to choose and trust me with your beautiful faces.

I of course still breakout, get PIE/pigment, scarring, clogged pores, you name it. being acne prone is genuinely a full time job lol. for most of us, it’s not something we just “grow out of” in our adult years. our skin isn’t meant to be perfect 100% of the time, and that’s okay. just know I see you, and I feel for you. and I’m ALWAYS here for you 🖤

with summer right around the corner, i curated a master list of acne safe sunscreens for my body acne prone girls 💞

honorable mention of a few face mists for reapplication as well!

also: for my girls with blonde extensions, avoid chemical sunscreens as they can alter the color of your extensions! stick to mineral :)

reminder: everyyyyy time i make one of these posts there is always at least one self proclaimed expert in the comments tearing down certain sunscreen filters or brands or application methods. this post is NOT about “clean” options or the most aesthetic options. the sole purpose of this post is NON COMEDOGENIC OPTIONS or options that have a very low chance of clogging pores. everyone has a preference of course, but this post is about acne friendly and accessible options for everyone regardless of what sunscreen filters are used or the price. the goal was to find an option for everyone, whether or not its a $8 chemical sunscreen from banana boat or a $40 sunscreen from ulta. im just happy yall are wearing sunscreen lol
