The classes I am coaching are limited due to room size and providing individual attention. I am hoping to coach a couple of students to the level of Part 107 FAA certification. No one is limited except for the age of federal testing for the Part 107, 18 years of age. You can also get the skillset to be a "Visual Observer". VOs are the "wing-person" of a drone pilot and observe the airspace and ground situation to identify potential hazards. Do consider attending a class for either of these skillsets. You will be glad you did and fly your drone with increased safety and confidence.

One of the missions, as a member of "Vets to Drones", is to support LE, FD, and civilian or military agencies in their time of need for drone photography and/or mapping.
The recent storm disaster in Ashville, NC and the vicinity changed the geography in significant ways. Most and in some cases all of the secondary roads and trails have been removed. Good mapping and updating current geo is quite necessary for help agencies to get to locations safely.
Vets to Drones provides men/women and material to assist this in an expedient manner, thus giving real-time analysis with drone coverage and updates.
On a current mission, members of the team did travel to the new river banks to remap the locations. This video and photos will provide good data for all, and keep people safe!

BenP and Phoenix Aviation-Drones.. supported a "Junior Fly Day" at The Brookland Health and Wellness Center, W. Columbia S.C. on Saturday, October 12th.
Young men were engaged in the learning of piloting drones using a simulator, small follow-me drones, and hands-on DJI series of drones. A demonstration of the FPV drone was provided as well.
The indoor facility of the gym or H-n-W Center gave plenty of room and airspace for various drone types. Thank you to Brookland for lending the facility and the participants have proven ready to graduate to more sophisticated drones.
Congratulations to the winner of a student-type drone provided by BenP. And thank you to all who gave a can of food for relief efforts in the local area.
Looking forward to taking some of these young pilots to the next level of learning.. Part 107.. here they come!
Hurricane Helene gave the Southeast and Columbia S.C. quite an unexpected punch! Assisting persons with updated info about what was once accessible, drone pilots took to the skies!

Congratulations.. to my "junior" drone student, eight year old, Logan D.
Logan completed the taking of his "recreational" TRUST drone exam on Saturday. He plans to continue flying drones and eventually taking the commercial Part 107 exam.
His enthusiasm and ongoing interest with applying all related safety measures, is impressive! . I am proud of him!
I will continue to coach Logan and challenge his developing skill set. I am sure he will one day qualify for a commercial license.
And I do remind him.. You MUST have fun!

My first "Drones for Recreation" class was quite the success. Attendees young and old learned about the FAA rules for users of drones.. for fun. They learned about the "TRUST" exam, airspace, and types of drones small and large. The next classroom session will be about the FAA Part 107 "commercial" licensing requirement. A Part 107 certification is required to use any category of drone for business/monetary purposes.
