I’ve been pretty absent on here, and here’s a bit of an insight as to why. If you’ve seen me in person over the last 18 months or so, you probably aren’t aware of the health challenges I’ve been facing, because it’s been a mystery to me, too 😅. To sum up, I’ve struggled with worsening symptoms including full-body, burning, itching, unbearable hives; joint pain, swelling, and stiffness; extreme fatigue; muscle weakness; extremely dry skin, and more. I’ve identified an allergy to nightshade vegetables, but this itself could be a result of something underlying, and it doesn’t account for all of my health problems. Throughout all of this, I am immensely grateful to my friends and family for helping me advocate for myself, my church family for being such supportive angels, and my many doctors who didn’t wave off my symptoms once the labs and tests and biopsies and scans came back normal and instead doubled down on helping me. We still don’t know what’s wrong with me, but the current best guess is a rare autoimmune disease. While this crazy journey for answers is far from over, I have been on some new meds that have made an insane difference in my health over the last couple of weeks (obvious in the comparison pics above), for which I am so grateful. I am never taking the ability to shower without whimpering in pain for granted ever again. My feet can actually fit in shoes. I’m no longer going through a pound of Aquaphor every two days and still shedding skin like I have a bad sunburn. My energy has increased one hundredfold. I’d literally forgotten what color my skin was and what it felt like to not be convulsing with chills all the time, and MAN it’s amazing to have some semblance of “normal.”
Ending my update by saying never take the little things for granted, believe the best about people, and give thanks to God for His infinite Goodness. ❤️

Hello! It’s been a while since I introduced myself on here. I’m Madi Hutchings, and I make all of the natural skin care products for Balm in Gilead Skin Care. I’ve struggled with several different skin issues for years (sensitive skin, dry skin, eczema, urticaria) and started my company to help those who have struggled similarly! Here are a few facts about me:
1. I am currently pregnant with my third child, due in January. It’s a boy, and his big brother and sister are super excited to meet him!
2. My tolerance for spicy food is basically zero UNLESS I am pregnant. If I start wanting to put Tabasco sauce on my eggs, I know I should take a pregnancy test. 😂
