A proper takedown starts before the braid even comes out.
I like to start with the Cécred Scalp Refresh Spray to help break down sweat, oil, flakes, and buildup around the base of the braid so the hair can separate easier without unnecessary pulling or tension.
Then I go in with the Cécred Detangling Spray to soften the shed hair and help the strands glide apart instead of knotting onto themselves during removal. This step is a game changer for protecting length and reducing breakage.

Human hair braids are only “high maintenance” when the hair quality, product layering, or maintenance routine is wrong 👀✨
The goal is soft, fluffy, shiny movement without excessive tangling, matting, dryness, or buildup.
A few key things make the difference:
quality human hair, proper moisture balance, lightweight product layering, and brushing techniques that fluff the hair without destroying the curl pattern.
For this routine, I used a few of my Cécred favorites to help refresh, soften, detangle, and finish the hair with shine.

Human Hair Braids Must-Have Kit ✨
This is the routine that keeps your boho braids looking soft, full, and elevated the entire time.
1. Cécred Scalp Refreshing Spray
Start at the scalp. This keeps everything clean, balanced, and refreshed in between washes.
How to use: Apply directly along parts and scalp as needed. This is your reset….especially when your scalp needs a refresh without disturbing the style.
2. Rs Scalp & Braid Refresh Mist
Lightweight hydration for both scalp + hair without buildup.
How to use: Lightly mist along parts and over braids 2–3x a week. You can also refresh the loose hair for added moisture.
3. Detangling Brush
This is for fluff + movement. It opens the curls and gives that soft, full boho look.
How to use:
• Dry brushing → separates + adds volume (my go-to)
• Damp brushing → softens + lightly defines
Always start from the ends and work your way up gently.
4. Cécred Wrap & Set Foam
Your definition step. Brings curls back to life while keeping them controlled….not stiff!!
How to use: SMALL amount on mid-lengths to ends. Use on dry or slightly damp hair. Scrunch, let dry, then separate for a soft finish.
5. Cécred Restoring Hair & Edge Drops
The finish. Adds shine, softness, and that “healthy, expensive” look.
How to use: A few drops over curls + lightly on braids and scalp as needed.
6. Cécred Detangling Spray
Your takedown essential, but also great for maintaining softness throughout.
How to use:
• During wear: light mist on loose ends for added slip + softness
• Takedown: saturate sections to safely detangle and prevent breakage
