Having multiple textures & curl patterns is a totally normal part of having curly hair. The way in which you work with your curls instead of against them is what makes all the difference. Here are a few tips of you find yourself frustrated with multiple curl patterns.

✂️ Get a curly cut!!!! I know this seems obvious but an experienced curl specialist will know how to work with your unique texture and can suggest the best cut and styling products for you! You just have to be open to our suggestions.

💨 Get tricky with your drying technique 🤭 For example: In areas where you have looser curls diffuse them by pushing the diffuser all the way to your scalp to encourage curl. If your curls are tighter in other areas just hover over them rather than pushing them up into your diffuser.

🧴Listen to your hair and adjust your products. Ex: If you have areas around your hairline where your hair repels water keep it super saturated 💦and really smooth your product in….then smooth and smooth some more, raking it through until you can feel that it has pe*****ted. This may take more time but hydrating these drier areas will really make a difference in your style.

🖐️ Thouroughly finger detangle! A lot of times curls in the nape of the neck are tighter and more dense. I find that a lot of times this area is neglected, understandably so, because it’s difficult to get to. However, if you keep a couple of clips in the shower and take the extra time to work your conditioner through in sections and detangle all the way to the root this can really help to release the curls that tend to shrink up in this area.

❤️ I hope these tips are helpful and encourage you to love your curls for what they are, beautifully unique and all yours!! ➿➰〰️

Shags were a symbol of youth and counterculture in the 1970’s and they reign supreme still in 2024. This I was so excited to create this look for my lovely client and was inspired by the powerful female singers of the 1970’s ✌️❤️🌻

Did you know keeping your curls hydrated by using quality, gentle, professional products will help with the longevity of your hair color service?

Whats wild is we did this color 6 months ago, today was just a haircut/shaping 😳

Here is her home routine:
🫧 Wash and condition with Curl Cleanser and Conditioner
🙌 Style with Amplify Conditioner

For the pros:
To achieve this color I pre-lightened her with Blue Powder and 20 volume
Pre-toned with Kenra Diamond Frost
Finished with semi permanent in shade: Green

Wavy hair gets love here! I get the struggle of flat/oily roots, going to bed wavy/curly and waking up straight 🫠 and strange things happening in the bang area. Embrace the uniqueness and add these tools to your tool belt!

〰️Respond to your own hair and scalp, not all wavy tips will work for you!
〰️Try dry shampoo to refresh your scalp and absorb oil.
〰️Texture sprays are a must for me to achieve volume and weightless hold.

Let’s talk hydration vs. moisture

⚫️ Moisture:
A small quantity of liquid, especially water; enough liquid to moisten.

⚫️ Hydration:
The process of causing something to absorb water.

If you’ve ever been to you know that hydration is always our goal for your curls and we work hard to achieve as much as we can during your visit but the work doesn’t stop there! What you do at home in between visits is what matters most!

Here’s what keeping your hair hydrated at home looks like:
💧Washing your hair 1-3x week using a gentle non-lather cleanser or co-wash.
💧Intentionally conditioning your curls using plenty of water to spread the product through your hair easier and encourage deeper hydration. Thorough detangling is also key to prevent matting.
💧Using quality products recommended by a trusted professional. There are so many brands to choose from it can be overwhelming. Trust your curl stylist to know from their experience working with all textures to know what will work best for you!
💧Not using heavy oils or butters, silicones, or sulfates. This includes oils claiming they will stimulate hair growth. Remember hydration means your hair absorbs water-OIL & WATER DON’T MIX! Oil creates a barrier that water cannot pe*****te which will cause dryness, breakage, frizz, & lack of curl definition over time.

To add an extra boost of hydration to your curls at your next appointment, add a Spa Mist Deep Conditioning Treatment and/or a Deep Cleanse to remove buildup and restore vibrancy & bounce back to your curls!

Years of straightening permanently straightened her hair leaving just a little texture at the roots and she was ready to START OVER!

When cutting the sides I got all of the heat damage off then on the sides I went as short as I could while still leaving a little length to play with up top. We did this to transition to her natural curl without having to shave it and start over. She rocked this short pixie cut and we have a plan for the next year..

⭐️ Products- Cleanser & Conditioner and Foam to style

⭐️3-month maintenance cut to get any remaining heat damage off her ends and maybe re-evaluate her product routine.

⭐️ 6-9 months to let her length grow back out before cutting again. As long as she uses the products and totally avoids heat she will be on her way to flourishing curls by then.

Diffuse your curls when:

✨You want volume and bounce
✨You have scalp issues-leaving wet heavy hair on your scalp is a no no.
✨You want to encourage curl (wavy & loose curl friends 😉)
✨I love diffusing tighter curls with the hover method to start. It helps to set your curls and product into place!

If you’re in the market for a new dryer and diffuser-shoot me a message for my recommendations!
