This year we stayed busy with 10 different outreach events over the year and 163 individuals were provided with free hair cuts! With your support we hope to continue these efforts into 2025, find more information here:

FAQ: “why is the salon closed on Wednesday?”

Wednesday gives our team the opportunity to give back to our community. Most of the time you will find our stylist Courtney at the Hope Resource Center offering haircuts. When she’s not there you can find the dynamic duo of Ariel and Courtney helping out with events.

All of our give back and events are made possible through our “pay it forward” efforts, find more information here: https://www.lowerlights.org/salondonations

Our ladies had the opportunity to learn from our very own Ariel as she covered skin care practices, products and the importance of self affirming phrases ❤️
It was a wonderful and educational experience for all.

We are happy to welcome Courtney back to the salon, this time she will be behind the chair as a stylist ❤️

If you have been visiting our salon for a while you may remember Courtney as she was actually once our receptionist. We are proud of her accomplishments in completing her schooling and obtaining all the proper licensing to work as a licensed stylist.

With the addition of Courtney to our team of stylist the salon hours have opened up a bit. Feel free to call our salon to get your appointment booked.

Please keep in mind: WEDNESDAY will remain closed for our team to work at our give back events along with SUNDAY remaining closed.

If you have been seeing us for a while you may know that we have various receptions. It’s a program called transitional employment program or “TEP” for Lower Light Ministries participants.

Meet Celeste! She has been our receptionist with TEP for a year. Within that year we have seen her grow and develop career skills so much so that she now is employed at our Child Enrichment Center!

Let talk hair health!

As stylist we are often asked: “how can I make my hair grow?” There are MANY reasons as to WHY your hair might not be “growing”. We are here to break down a few basic steps you can take to ensure a great environment for your hair the THRIVE and grow!

1) Routine trims, if hair has damaged ends the hair will tend to break and split off from the bottom. Depending on your hair style and styling habits a routine trim could be anywhere from 4-12 weeks.

2) Conditioning treatments, these can help add in depleting proteins in your hair and create stronger bonds so that hair will be less likely to break. Conditioning treatments are especially important to anyone receiving chemical services such as color. Treatment can be done every 1-3 months.

3) Healthy scalp, be sure to cleanse and shampoo scalp regularly. A healthy scalp can produce healthy hair and maintaining a routine “wash day” for hair. Shampooing too much isn’t great and not shampooing enough can be problematic too so it’s important to find the right balance for you and your scalp. The scalp can produce oils that are actually good and healthy for your hair so if you can push out wash day a few days do that!

We hope this helps, we look forward to seeing you soon for your next appointment.
