One of the most important steps in the healing process is coming back for your jewelry downsize appointment!

When a piercing is first done, longer jewelry is used to allow room for swelling. Once that swelling has gone down, wearing jewelry that is too long can actually cause problems.

• Prevents snagging on hair, clothing, and pillows
• Helps minimize bumps and excess scar tissue
• Improves comfort during healing

Many clients think their piercing is healed once the swelling is gone, but that's actually the perfect time to evaluate whether a downsize is needed.

If you've had your piercing for about 6 weeks now and notice extra movement, snagging, or irritation, it may be time to switch to a shorter post.
