Most days I try to be grateful for the smaller things. Today, I am so very grateful for the huge blessing of being able to evacuate my daughter Lauren from Florida. I'm praying for those still trying to leave, those who are staying - please don't judge those who haven't left. Yes, some stay to "ride it out", some can't leave. Storm surge in that area is expected to be 10-15 ft, which will be well above most first story or single story homes.
So today, I'm grateful my baby girl is asleep in my guest bedroom.

I had the opportunity to speak with a gentleman who was there in New York on 9/11. His office was 2 blocks from the towers. He and his coworkers were outside watching the flames in the first tower, contemplating whether or when they should go see if they could help, when the 2nd plane hit - he said they could feel the heat from the impact. I watched this man's face as he recounted this horrifying experience, the terror and the pain coming right back to the surface. I watched goosebumps rise on his arms as he told me about the moment the first tower collapsed, his colleague turning to him and screaming, "Run!!!"
He said the windows of the buildings were breaking, and he used his lap top to shield his face from flying glass. He said they ran until they couldn't anymore.
I cannot imagine the terror, but I could see it reflected in his eyes as he shared his experience with me. It will always be with him, he'll never forget the events of that day, and we should do our best to also NEVER forget.

I am a little ghost.
I died while my dad was in the middle of perusing my time-line.
I haunt the whole thing in the morning and the rest of the night.
