HAPPY 111th BIRTHDAY, ARIZONA!

The history of Arizona encompasses the Paleo-Indian, Archaic, Post-Archaic, Spanish, Mexican, and American periods. About 10,000 to 12,000 years ago, Paleo-Indians settled in what is now Arizona.

Arizona became a state in 1912 but was primarily rural with an economy based on cattle, cotton, citrus, and copper. Dramatic growth came after 1945, as retirees and young families who appreciated the warm weather and low costs emigrated from the Northeast and Midwest.

In 1863, Arizona was split off from the Territory of New Mexico to form the Arizona Territory. The remoteness of the region was eased by the arrival of railroads in 1880. Arizona became a state in 1912 but was primarily rural with an economy based on cattle, cotton, citrus, and copper. Dramatic growth came after 1945, as retirees and young families who appreciated the warm weather and low costs emigrated from the Northeast and Midwest.

The U.S. Census data from July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2022. Reports Arizona’s population, is now estimated at 7,359,197, saw a 1.3% increase. That makes the state the 5th-fastest growing state in the 12 months ending last summer.

The Copper State’s growth has rebounded from 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic stunted immigration, new births and accelerated the nation’s death rate. In that year, Arizona saw only 28,436 more residents.

Super Bowl # # # was played in Tempe in 1996 and Super Bowl XLII was held in Glendale in 2008. Super Bowl XLIX also held in Glendale in 2015. Super Bowl LVII was hosted in Glendale just couple of days ago, the same week at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, bringing around 2M people into the city.

Mark your calendars. Mr Gay World Washington will be held on August 27th in Seattle. Hosted by last year's Mr Washington Meiko Parton, with special guest, Kennedy Davenport of Rupaul's Drag Race. That night we will crown Washington, Idaho and Montana. So if anyone who is qualified to represent those states asks, please let them know.

A little backstory on this photo…This is Jason Hartsel my very first boyfriend at 5 year’s old. Last year I went to visit my uncle in NC and thought I would look Jason up. I could not find him anywhere I found an obituary of a Jason Hartsel that was 25 and said to myself that’s not him he would be older. I finally was able to find his mom and her FB was full of trump and bible verses. I reached out to her and she mentioned that Jason died of su***de at 25, I was stunned. She had mentioned it was just his birthday and I said I will be stopping by to pay my respects and she gave
me the cemeteries address. The very next day after arrival I went to visit Jasons grave. I was expecting to find flowers and balloons however there was nothing more than an unkempt gave. It then hit me that his family did not care for Jason because of who he loved or was I am only speculating but all the pieces of the puzzle fit. I hope Jason is in The Gay Heaven where he deserves to be. I do not wish to bring anyone down with this story but to be honest I felt compelled to share it you my new brothers. I wrote a short film about an incredible moment we shared as kids, when he asked me to marry him. RIP Jason ❤️🙏🏽
