Stylist over 35 ? Where do lot of capable, high-functioning women start questioning their sanity?
Many say Burnout others blame Perimenopause
The overlap isn’t accidental — it’s structural
Perimenopause typically begins when a woman’s life load is heaviest:
Peak career responsibility
Parenting demands
Emotional labor (at work and at home)
Less novelty, more obligation
Less recovery time, more output
So the body isn’t just navigating hormonal fluctuation,it’s doing so without margin.
Burnout doesn’t cause perimenopause.
Perimenopause doesn’t cause burnout.
They amplify each other.
What hormones actually do under chronic stress
Here’s the missing piece most conversations skip:
When stress is chronic, the body prioritizes cortisol production over s*x hormones.
Progesterone (which calms, stabilizes mood, supports sleep and libido) is often the first to drop.
Estrogen may spike and crash unpredictably.
The nervous system stays vigilant.
So what looks like “perimenopause symptoms” often feels worse when burnout is present because:
Sleep becomes lighter and less restorative
Anxiety feels unprovoked
Sensory tolerance drops (noise, touch, stimulation)
Desire doesn’t fade — it goes offline
Not because you don’t want intimacy…
…but because your body doesn’t feel resourced enough for it.
Why high-capacity women get hit hardest
This is important, especially you Hairstylist.
Women who are:
Reliable
Competent
Emotionally intelligent
Used to carrying things quietly
…are more likely to override early signals.
They don’t collapse.
They tighten.
They keep showing up while their body starts pulling the emergency brake behind the scenes.
So by the time symptoms appear, they feel sudden and frightening:
“I was fine… and then I wasn’t.”
But the system had been compensating for years.
Burnout changes how hormones are experienced.
Here’s a subtle but critical distinction:
Hormonal shifts are information.
Burnout is lack of recovery.
When there’s no recovery:
Hormonal fluctuations feel extreme
Emotional regulation becomes harder
The body loses flexibility
This is why two women at the same age can have vastly different experiences with perimenopause.
One has nervous system support.
The other has been running on obligation and adrenaline.
The libido conversation…
Low desire during this phase is often framed as:
A relationship issue
A loss of attraction
A permanent change
But biologically, desire requires:
Safety
Energy surplus
Presence
Burnout removes all three.
Your body isn’t rejecting intimacy.
It’s conserving resources.
That’s a very different story — and a much kinder one.
What actually helps (and what doesn’t)
What doesn’t help:
Pushing harder
More discipline
Forcing rest without reducing demand
Treating the body like a malfunctioning machine
What does help:
Predictable rhythms (sleep/wake, meals, light exposure)
Fewer transitions without pause
Reducing emotional labor where possible
Gentle nervous system downshifts (not “optimization”)
Feeling seen instead of analyzed
This isn’t about fixing hormones.
It’s about making the environment safer for them to fluctuate.
A reframe that might land for you
Instead of asking:
“Is this burnout or perimenopause?”
Try:
“What has my body been managing without enough recovery?”
That question opens the door to support without blame.
One quiet truth
Perimenopause isn’t a breakdown.
Burnout isn’t a personal failure.
Together, they’re often a request for a different pace, not a different life.
You don’t need to overhaul everything.
You need more margin than you’ve allowed yourself.

✨ A Brief Journey Through Día de los Mu***os
This celebration of life and memory goes back over 3,000 years — rooted in the ancient traditions of the Aztecs and Mayans, who believed that once a year, our loved ones could return to visit us.
When Spanish colonization brought Catholic influence, those sacred indigenous beliefs merged — and what we now know as Día de los Mu***os was born. 💛
This week-long ritual is so much more than a holiday — it’s a love story between the living and the departed.
🌼 October 28 – A Heartfelt Start
Light the first candle. Place a white flower. Whisper a prayer of love for those who’ve gone before us.
💧 October 29 – For the Unclaimed Souls
Today we remember those with no one to remember them. Offer a glass of water — a simple act of compassion that says, you are not forgotten.
🍞 October 30 – For Those Called Too Soon
Add pan de mu**to, more candles, and more light. It’s for the ones who left this world unexpectedly — so they never go hungry in spirit.
🍊 October 31 – Honoring Our Ancestors
Add fruit and another flame to your altar — a sign of love for your roots and the ones whose stories still guide you.
🕊️ November 1 – Día de los Angelitos (Day of the Innocents)
This day belongs to the children, the sweet souls who remind us that love never leaves — it just changes form. Fill the altar with color, treats, and joy.
🌺 November 2 – Día de los Mu***os (Day of the Dead)
The adult spirits come home — drawn by marigolds, candles, music, and laughter. Share stories, food, and the warmth of remembrance.
🌙 November 3 – Farewell for Now
Light your final candle, burn copal incense, and gently send your loved ones back to the beyond — until next year’s reunion.
No two celebrations look the same — and that’s the beauty of it. 💐
Every altar, every song, every offering is a reflection of love in its purest form.
Let’s honor this tradition with open hearts and deep respect for the cultures that keep this beautiful cycle of remembrance alive.
🕯️✨ May we all live and love in a way worth remembering.
