One year apart. And this is why I always say there’s more to skin than just skincare. 🤍

Last year, my friend’s skin was extremely dry, red, bumpy, and irritated. Her skin barrier was clearly struggling, but what also stood out to me was that she was experiencing unusual thirst and getting sick back to back, which was very unlike her.

She hadn’t changed anything in her skincare routine, so I started looking beyond the products she was using.

She was going through a stressful season of life, dealing with a lot of changes in a short amount of time. When I went back through pictures of her skin throughout the year, I noticed the changes started small and became more noticeable as time went on.

Over the following months, we focused on supporting her skin barrier, nourishing her body, managing stress, and being more mindful of her environment.

And look at her skin now. 🥹✨ The difference is beautiful.

Now, I can’t say stress was the cause of everything she was experiencing, but it can play a role in our overall well-being, and our skin can be affected by what’s happening in our lives.

This is why I don’t believe the answer to every skin concern is another product or treatment. Sometimes, we need to take a step back and ask ourselves what else might be going on.

How are we feeling? What has changed? Are we giving our bodies the support they need?

Because while professional skincare absolutely has its place, I believe we do ourselves a disservice when we look at the skin without considering the bigger picture.
