Someone asked me about essential oils and birds. This is what I shared with her and I thought you may enjoy it as well:

Here is some help from a friend who has been doing oils on her bird for 10 years: "My African grey parrot is 26 now. I drop a drop of orange or lemon in his fresh water each day as I change it. Once in a while, I use the feather spray mentioned in the essential oils desk reference (diluted-4 oz water,20 drops each of lavender, lemon, orange)
The feather spray is to be misted directly(desk reference). Jazzy loves it!"

So, to answer your question, diffusion should be fine.

Corianne suggested just wetting the edge of the charcoal bar soap and rubbing it entirely over the stain, then tossing it into the wash. If you wish to let it sit a bit and then toss it in - I'm sure that would work great too!
