El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele has publicly affirmed that people should be free to read the Bible after responding to a child's question about whether students should be allowed to read Scripture in school.

Bukele replied, "Of course you can read the Word of God," adding that people should be free to read the Bible not only in schools, but also in prisons.

He also emphasized the importance of prison ministry, saying that God's Word has the power to transform lives and expressing concern that pastors and Christian leaders sometimes face unnecessary obstacles when trying to minister to inmates. Bukele argued that prisons are places where many people need hope, forgiveness, and the opportunity for a new beginning.

In addition, he criticized restrictions on public preaching, saying it is unreasonable to limit the public proclamation of the Gospel while allowing many other forms of public expression.

For Christians, the Bible is more than a historical book. It is God's living Word, revealing His truth, His love, and His plan of salvation through Jesus Christ.
