GRWM: Putting on my hair topper

For my entire life, I’ve struggled with fine, thin hair.

When I decided I wanted to wear an angled bob, I quickly realized that I could never achieve the weight line, fullness, and shape I was looking for with my natural hair alone. No matter how I styled it, I just didn’t have enough density around my face to create the look I wanted.

That’s when I realized that a topper could give me exactly what I was missing.

By customizing and cutting the topper into my hairstyle, I was able to create the fullness and density around my face that my natural hair simply couldn’t provide. The result is the look I’ve always wanted, without spending hours styling my hair every day.

What I love most is how easy it is. It takes me less than five minutes to put it on in the morning, and when you have the right piece that’s properly customized, cut, and color matched, it’s incredibly natural and seamless.

As a hair extension specialist, I love that there are so many options available today. Whether it’s traditional extensions like k-tips or wefts, or alternative hair, like a topper, or maybe even a combination of solutions, having the knowledge and experience to choose the right approach for each individual is what truly makes all the difference.

For me, my topper gave me the confidence to wear the hairstyle I’ve always wanted, and I honestly can’t imagine my routine without it now.

This year was extra special because it was our very first time exhibiting at Premiere Orlando, and we poured so much thought, planning, and intention into every detail of our booth. From the layout and displays to the products and education we brought with us, we wanted the XO Hair Pro experience to reflect exactly who we are as a brand.

What we didn’t expect was the overwhelming amount of support from our community. Seeing so many students, stylists, friends, and industry peers stop by our booth meant more than we can put into words.

Not only did we exceed every goal we set for ourselves, but I also had the chance to stop by the Ulta booth and celebrate being recognized on the Ulta Hall of Fame as one of their top stylists from last year—a full-circle moment I’ll never forget.

We even squeezed in a birthday celebration along the way. 🥂

To everyone who visited our booth, purchased tools, asked questions, shared our content, or simply cheered us on—thank you. We’re incredibly grateful and more motivated than ever for what’s ahead.

They may be the reason my Target bill looks like a luxury car payment and why silence in my house feels suspicious… but they’re also the greatest thing I’ve ever done. 🤍

Every long day behind the chair, every class taught, every risk I’ve taken building my business, every goal I keep chasing… somehow it all means more because of them.

Motherhood changed me in ways I never expected. It made me softer and stronger at the same time. It taught me how to love deeper, fight harder, work smarter, and appreciate the little moments in between the chaos.

And honestly? If I had to choose between having more money or having these three… I’d choose them every single time.

The best decisions ever. ✨

My opinion: Hair extension companies have been missing the mark for years.

The industry insists on marketing hair extensions with photos of 20-year-olds with 24-inch hair. But the women who truly change your business are often the ones who need extensions, not just the ones who want them.

And to be honest… I’m beginning to realize I’ve been guilty of@this mindset in my own posting too.

There were times when I thought I shouldn’t post some of my older clients online because maybe the internet wouldn’t view them the same way they view their younger counterparts. And honestly, that has really messed with my head because I think this is one of the biggest things our industry needs to shift.

Beauty does not stop being important at 25.
Confidence does not expire at 40.
And women struggling with hormonal hair loss, thinning hair, aging, stress, or texture changes deserve to feel just as beautiful, glamorous, confident, and seen as anyone else.

So I’m saying it out loud right now:

My ideal client is the woman over 40 whose hair doesn’t feel the same anymore.
The woman struggling with hormonal hair loss.
The woman whose confidence quietly disappeared little by little every time she looked in the mirror.
The woman who just wants to feel like herself again.

That’s the woman I want to help.
That’s the woman I want to educate stylists to serve better.
And those are the clients who deserve to see themselves represented in this industry too.
