Burnout can sneak up on us. Stressful days turn into stressful weeks, months, and even years!

Here are some common signs of burnout that can often look like ordinary stress. If you notice some of these, it may be time for some PTO, therapy, or lifestyle changes.

Keep in mind, these are also signs of depression. If you're taking care of yourself and still notice these, it may be time to talk to an expert and get some support. 💙

Diet culture has a strong hold on many people. Many influencers even pass off well-hidden diets as "healthy lifestyles."

Diets can look different, but they often focus on restriction. This includes calorie restriction, restriction of certain foods, or even restriction of the times you're allowed to eat.

Many diets require extreme changes that can be difficult, impossible, or unhealthy to stick with long-term.

Dieting can be hard on the body and mind. So I recommend three options to consider next time you're tempted to try another diet or extreme lifestyle change. Swipe to read. And don't forget to save and share!

We usually think of self-care as some cute little task to de-stress. Like doing a facial while watching Netflix.

But self-care is supposed to be something that helps maintain or improve overall well-being.

Don't get me wrong, I love skin care and streaming! Those have their place!

But often, self-care means doing the things that will improve our wellness and stress levels, even though it's not necessarily enjoyable. Like staying home and resting instead of going out. Or simply finishing the laundry so you feel accomplished and have clean clothes!

Little life update:

I graduated with my doctorate in clinical psychology a couple weeks ago.

Since then, we've packed up and moved to Detroit where I'll be starting my postdoctoral fellowship in rehabilitation neuropsychology very soon!

Over the past year, I haven't worked out as much as I usually like.
And that's ok.
My body hasn't looked the way it usually does.
And that's ok too.
I've had more downs than I usually do. And even that's ok.

There are seasons for everything. And I'm looking forward to now entering a season of thriving. A season of love and healing and health. A reset and new start.

If you're not in your season of thriving, that's ok. Don't let social media or influencers tell you where you should be and how you should feel. Keep pushing, seek support, take rest. There is a season for everything.

A frequent question I get asked is how to maintain motivation??

Well, spoilers! You can't. Motivation is a feeling. And feelings come and go.

People who APPEAR motivated every day are actually relying on habits. They have taken steps to create dozens of small habits over time to build productivity into their lifestyles.

So next time you notice you aren't motivated, take time to consider small steps you can start to cultivate into habit. Start there, one step at a time!

Omega-3's! What they are and how to get them!

What they are: a fat that is essential for cell function and the starting point for making important hormones. Omega-3's have been found to help prevent heart disease and stroke and are generally essential for heart health. The human body can't create Omega-3's, which is why it is important to have them in your diet.

How to get them: fish, flax seeds, chia seeds, and walnuts are some of the highest content foods. They are also versatile and easy to incorporate into the diet.

We live busy lives, so we often eat rushed meals. Or eat while we're distracted and multitasking.
