“Are you willing to put in the work?”

I have to ask my clients this question whenever they’re thinking about making dramatic changes to their hair color. Whether going lighter or darker than their natural hair, there is maintenance involved in making the switch.

If you’re going lighter, are you willing to invest in the maintenance appointments and take home products to keep the unwanted tones between lightening services?

If you’re going darker, are you willing to come in more frequently to cover your regrowth?

I think it’s so important to rock the hair that makes us feel more ourselves and confident! But it’s also important to think about the commitment to our hair color so that we can have hair that rocks all the time!

I am obsessed with my client in her 😍

It’s amazing how much a set of extensions can transform someone’s hair. This client shaved half of her head about two years ago and is in the process of growing her hair back out. And with this extensions, you can’t even tell!

The extensions are light weight, yet create such volume and fullness.

I customized this set of extensions and toned them silver, so this client could still have her favorite silver hair with the extensions.

Toning products are not one size fits all

That’s why I love .murphy toning products

While I do not think you should reply on toning products, they are a great pick me up between your hair appointments.

I always say to wait at least two weeks after your hair appointment to using a toning shampoo. If you use it too soon to I can push the gloss/toner out of your hair.

As a general rule of thumb, I always say to wait until you can see that you need to use a toning shampoo or conditioner before you use it.

If you use toning products too often you can actually be making your hair appear darker because you are layering the colors on top of each other.

Also whenever using a toning product be sure to work it from your roots to ends to ensure all of your hair is being treated. And let it sit for 1-5 minutes (always keeping an eye on your hair)

All Good Things Take Time

This client has had two blonding sessions with me. Each being about 4 hours.

In order to get you to your end goal, it takes time and patience to keep your hair at its healthiest state.

It can take multiple sessions to get as blonde as you desire.

But just because you’re not at your “end goal” yet, doesn’t mean you will not be left with pretty hair.

Go to a hairstylist who will take the time to get you through all those “in-between” stages, and having you still loving your hair every time.

If You’re Reading This You’re Too Close

It was so fun feting to transform this clients hair.

We chopped off about 8 inches, leaving her with a cute lob!

Then I did a full head of teasy-lights and babylights, to give her a dimensional blended look. That will allow her to go months between appointments.

The last photo was my first session on this client. She has had her hair done by an other stylist who added a lot of copper tones to her hair.

To healthily Bring her black to blonde, in both appointments we did a full head of teasylights. To give her brightness and dimension.

This client is also great about using quality products on her hair, and taking care of her hair at home between appointments.

Brunette Balayage

Dimensional Brunettes are so underrated. There is something so gorgeous about the the soft highlights against the darker base.

Not everyone is meant to be a blonde. When creating highlights on a brunette it is key to not make them too blonde. Because the gloss will eventually fade.

This color was customized to this client. We chose caramel tones to brighten her face and compliment her eyes.
