Black History month is here! It’s UrbanCity Babeee. This is my My Black History Story 🙌🏾

👑 Being and educated black woman 👑 making the transition from a competitive sales banker in 2015 to becoming a black own business was one of the hardest transitions in my life. For Years I thought 💭 the degrees, careers, and obtaining money was “BLACK EXCELLENCE” I had accomplished so much but I was extremely unhappy. I experienced so much racial discrimination and obstacles to the point it seem like every day I was wearing a mask to get done with the day. 2016 I decided to walk away from the career 💼 and take back my own life and redefine MY BLACK EXCELLENCE.

🌟Taking my business experiences I decided to start my in home business doing natural hair which seemed to be a natural talent for me. I first called my business “Tabby Lovely Treasures”. My business grown so much, I took so much pride in transitioning black hair Especially LOCS which came with its own stereotypes. When it was time to open the doors to my own business I gave it the Name UrbanCity Hair Salon, LLC because I wanted to make a statement in an area that missing a few pieces of culture and education on Black Hair Care. Urban was the closest word to Black and also had a balance that respected the blends that makes us even more dope ✊🏾I’m black and I’m proud 😅.

🧗🏾‍♀️ Today after 5 years of being in business I’m extremely thankful for my community that has supported my vision when I wasn’t clear for me yet. I’ve grown into purpose as a loctician. I love to CROWN 👑 my clients through artistic creations. People speak so positive about my work! They rave about the complements they receive on the regular bases. I love hearing the “DON’T TOUCH MY HAIR STORIES” I love 💕 speaking to the young black men. Most importantly I love the togetherness we have in my salon environment. I never call myself the Goat 🐐 because I’m more then that. I’m a friend, teacher, role model, sister, therapist, motivation and loctician right after. That’s priceless. My “Black Excellence” is standing for something and not being afraid to show up as yourself.
